Marigold Halmer

Today would probably be the biggest change in my life. I don't know if I'm not enough for my parents or if they don't like me but they needed another one of me, that's why we're heading to the foster home.

A stranger is about to live in my house, a person I have no idea who or where they came from. What if they don't like me? What if my parents don't pay attention to me anymore? What if I become THE stranger. A 12 year old like me shouldn't have to go through things like this, this is too much.

"Were here honey." My mom called out.

I slowly open the car door looking at the big foster building St. Peter foster home , while kids running back in forth on the front yard. Knowing one of them is going to be my brother or sister.

"Mom, am i getting a brother or a sister?"

"Me and your dad talked about that, we're going to get you a brother"

A smile politely.
A BROTHER! Why not a sister, it would have been better right, I could finally have someone to talk about girl stuff , what am I going to talk to about with a boy, video games?  How to get girls? Everything is going to be ruin and I know it.

When we entered the building, there was tons of kids and the building was nice, it looked like a hotel but it was free and was full of children, some of them would look at me in a strange way when we walked by but I didn't mind. We met the caretaker who owned this foster home and she was to introduced us to the kids.

" Mag, come on, they're going to introduce us to the kids" Dad called out.

"I'm coming."

We were introduced to each of the kids that we're lined up. They were  horizontally in a straight line, they were all dressed nicely.

I look around, I saw a boy about the same age as me, I thought he was really cute. He had blue eyes, glossy blonde hair and was dressed with a brown t-shirt and black jeans. He was standing holding his hand with the other and was looking down, he didn't seem happy like the others were.

He rose up his head and looked side to side then suddenly  ran off out the door to the backyard. Where could he be going. I wanted to follow him and see where he was going.

" Uh, dad, I'm going out for a little bit. Ok?"

"Sure honey, just be sure to come back."

I ran out to the backyard. There I saw him, sitting on the bench holding up a couple of twigs and was throwing it on the far side of the dirt. I walked up to him.

"Hey, you! Why are you here? Your suppose to be inside." I walked to him. I sat on the cold wooden bench beside him.

"Um, I needed fresh air. I didn't want strangers to take me to their house." He's eyes looking at mine.

"Some kids would beg to be with a family. Well I would if I was in your situati-"

"That's you, we have different thoughts. And plus you don't know what I been through before I even got here."

"What happe--" As I was about to ask him a question, a voice called us to go back inside.

I took a long look at him before I went to my parents. He went back to where he was before but looked back at me one more time. I wished I got his name before we had to come back inside.

"Have you pick anyone yet?" I asked parents.

"Not yet. We have one more to meet before we leave. Hopefully we like him." Mom answered.
