Chapter 6: Our Summer Love

I was hiding in her bedroom. I couldn't let her find me. Shit would go down if she did. I sat on the floor on the side of her bed that was furthest from the door. I was just praying she wouldn't think to look in her room.
"I know you're in here Mami." She found me. I was just hoping she'd stay on that side of the bed. "I know what you did. I'm gonna get you for this." I couldn't help but laugh. When she heard me she jumped on the bed. She was laying over the edge so that I could see her face. "Where's my controller?"
"I don't know what you're talking about." I looked away and tried the choke down another laugh.
"Really? We gon play this game today?" She said with a smirk. I didn't answer. "Alright. Well I guess that means I have to pull out my secret weapon."
"Oh no Papi! Anything but that!"
"Too late!" I tried to run again but she grabbed me and threw me on the bed. She got on top of me and tickled me until I was out of breath. "You ready to tell me?"
"No...no...I won't...can't make me." I said through my laughter and heavy breathing.
"Ok. That's fine with me." She started tickling me again.
"Ok! Ok! I give up!" I pushed her off of me. "I put it in my bag." I said, still laughing.
"Thank you." She smiled and went through my bag. When she found her controller she got back on the bed again and kissed my neck.
This was an everyday thing now. Since I was staying with the Martinez's, I got to have fun like this with Papi all the time.
"So what we doing today babe?" I asked her.
"Well you know I got volunteer hours today right?"
"Oh yeah." I had completely forgotten. Papi did volunteer work at a local animal shelter on Fridays. "When do you think you'll get back then?"
"I mean it's only for a couple hours. I finish around 3:30, so I should be home before 4 o'clock. Wanna catch a movie?"
"Yay! That sounds fun." We were both laying down on her bed. I curled up next to her and she held me. This was one of the best parts of being with her. The cuddle time always made me happy.
"Alright," she said sitting up. "Imma finish my mission, then Imma take a shower. Care to join me?"
"For which part of that are you offering?" I questioned her.
"Both," she said with a smirk.
"Ok." I smiled. She got up and grabbed my hand. We walked into her media room which was down the hall.
I called her media room The Cave when her brothers, Zeke and Marcos, came over. I never really went in there when they came, unless I was bringing them food or something. But today it was just us. So she sat on the big chair and put me on her lap. I watched her play and beat her mission on the first try. She calls me her lucky charm when it comes to games. I guess she always wins when I'm around.
When she was done, it was shower time. We left The Cave and headed for the bathroom. She turned on the water and we waited for it to heat up. While we waited, I was looking at myself in the mirror. She came up behind me and wrapped her arms around my waist. We look so cute together I thought to myself. I loved the way it felt to have her hold me.
"Papi?"
"Sí mi Princessa?" I love her Spanish so much.
"Don't let go."
She kissed my cheek. "I won't let go Mami."

When we got out of the shower, it was already 12 o'clock. Papi didn't have to be at the shelter until 1 o'clock, but she loved to be early. Her dream was to be a Vet, so she wanted to spend as much time with the animals as possible. But our shower had lasted longer than expected, and now she might be late.
"You want me to meet you at the shelter when you're done?"
"Sure Mami. But now I gotta run. Don't wanna be late." She kissed my forehead and walked out.
We had made plans for when she got off. I was going to meet her at the shelter, then we'd get something to eat. After dinner we'd head to the movie theater. They were replaying The Gallows, the first movie we ever saw together. Then we'd just come home and chill.
I was so ready for tonight. But 3:30 was still so far away.
