Chapter 27: Farewell

"Hiring a normal ninja from the village is expensive and they may betray me. So I get you missing-nins who are easy to take care of afterwards. I have the ninjas battle each other and once they're weakened, I kill them off with numbers. It doesn't cost me anything, good plan don't you think? The only problem in the plan was you, Zabuza... The Devil of The Hidden Mist? What a joke, if you ask me. Heheh... you're just a cute little devil baby!"

Gatou insulted Zabuza for being unable to kill Tazuna and defeat Kakashi.

"We can easily kill you now!"

One of Gatou's men shouted, arrogantly.

"Who are these guys?! There's so many of them..."

Naruto asks but nobody answers. Zabuza turns his head to Kakashi.

"Kakashi, I'm sorry. This fight is over. Now that I have no reason to go after Tazuna, I have no reason to fight you..."

"..."

"Huh?"

"You're right..."

Kakashi agrees, confusing Naruto.

"Oh, yeah..."

Gatou approaches the lifeless body of Haku.

"I owe this one... You squeezed my arm until it broke... Heh, he's dead."

Gatou, then, kicks Haku at the face.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! YOU BASTARD!!"

Naruto runs towards Gatou but Kakashi pulls him back, making Naruto lose balance.

"Hey, look at their numbers! Don't just jump in!"

"Argh! SAY SOMETHING WEREN'T YOU FRIENDS?!"

"Shut up, kid. Haku is already dead."

"DON'T YOU FEEL ANYTHING AT ALL?! WEREN'T YOU TWO ALWAYS TOGETHER?!"

"As I was used by Gatou, I used Haku. That's all it was. I've said it already. In the world of shinobi, there are only those who use and those who are used. We shinobi are simply tools. What I wanted was his blood not him. I have no regrets..."

"Hey, do you really mean that?"

Naruto shoves Kakashi's hand off the back of his jacket's collar.

"Stop, Naruto, we are not fighting him anymore! Plus-----"

"SHUT UP!! MY ENEMY IS STILL HIM!!"

Naruto points his index finger towards Zabuza.

"Who is this annoying kid?"

"HE... HE REALLY LOVED YOU!!"

Naruto, then, points his index finger towards Haku's lifeless body, shouting at Zabuza.

 

"Naruto..."

Minori mumbles his name as she stared at him from a far distance.

"Minori, did you say something?"

"No..."

 

"HE LOVED YOU THAT MUCH!! DO YOU REALLY NOTHING?!"

Naruto asks Zabuza, shouting at the top of his lungs, while Zabuza just stood there and kept quiet. As Naruto kept shouting at Zabuza, flashbacks of what Haku told him before his death ringed on his head.

"DO YOU REALLY... REALLY FEEL NOTHING?! IF I BECOME AS STRONG AS YOU, WILL I REALLY BECOME LIKE YOU?! HE THREW AWAY HIS LIFE FOR YOU!! WITHOUT HIS OWN DREAM... HE DIED AS A TOOL!! THAT'S JUST TOO SAD!!"

Naruto stops and starts crying.

"Kid..."

"Huh?'

"You don't... need to say... anymore..."

Because of Naruto, Zabuza has begun crying after realizing of what Haku had done for him. Shocked, Naruto stops crying a bit.
