Unlikely Duet Neo
Foreword: I'm Mayflower Productions, introducing a special installment of Unlikely Duet. Some might call it an omake, others an AU, or even a side-story. Regardless of the semantics, it's finally here. I've always wanted to try writing this type of story before, a full one-shot. This is also a triple crossover. I wonder what the third franchise is? In any case, I hope you enjoy the show, Unlikely Duet Neo!
Synopsis: Hikigaya Hachiman dies (?) and wakes up in the afterlife to a goddess-in-training. Without warning, he's tasked with saving another world as its Great Hero. Caught in a misunderstanding, Hachiman is sent to the other world with said goddess as his guide. From there, the pair become adventurers, gathering a party to take the other world by storm... As if.

Chapter EX: God's Blessing on this Wonderful World was Wrong, as Expected
[Hachiman POV]
"Rise from your long slumber, oh Great Hero!"
"Huh?" I opened my eyes. I sat in a wooden chair surrounded by a gray void. There was only one other person with me.
"The road may be long and arduous, but I shall root for your victory." Blue hair, cut slightly above the shoulders, and yellow-green eyes. I knew this person; she was—
"Ryou-san? What are you doing here, in a habit no less? I didn't know you did cosplay." Yamada Ryou, my upperclassman, noted rock aficionado and scam artist. And she was wearing a nun's habit, white with golden trim.
"Ryou? I am Azul, sound goddess-in-training."
"Very funny, Ryou-san. This must be another one of your jokes, huh? Let's cut the theatrics."
"This is no ruse, Great Hero. Come now, the hour quickens till this world's demise. Your piety and martial skill will finally vanquish the foul Demon Lord."
"You're serious, Ryou-san."
"It's Azul, and yes, Great Hero, you are the divine realm's chosen champion. There could be no better option than a former God of War, after all."
"God of War? Oh, no...no, no, no."
"Never fear, Great Hero. This task may seem sudden, but you will not fight alone. Along with your resurrection, we can provide one gift for your journey."
"What is my name, Azul-sama?"
"Naturally, it is Hachiman, Great Hero."
"That's it? No surname?"
"Yes?"
"That's the thing, Azul-sama. I'm Hikigaya Hachiman, a Japanese high-school student. You've got the wrong person."
"Perish the thought, Great Hero. I, Azul, would never make such a major—" She scanned the textbook in her lap, and then looked at me. She cycled between the two a few times before gasping.
"Mistake?" I shrugged. It took a bit longer than expected, but now Ryou-san would drop the act and explain this weird joke. Like seriously, thinking I'm a Shinto deity? Someone should learn to read the room.
"Uh, Great Hero. I have to call my associate. Could you wait a moment?" The self-proclaimed goddess asked, holding a smartphone to her ear. Where did she get that? You know what, I was better off not asking.
