Every word is composed of "syllable blocks". 한 is not a single letter, but is composed of more than one letter to be a syllble. You already know the letters ㅎ, ㅏ, and ㄴ. So it is pronounced han (hahn). The syllables contain at least 1 consonant and 1 vowel.
It can either go from left-right or up-down. Ex of left-right, 한 from 한글 (korean alphabet) you pronounce in this order ㅎ-ㅏ-ㄴ. Ex of up-down, 글 from 한글, you pronounce in this order ㄱ- ㅡ -ㄹ. Sometimes there are 4 letters in one block. When you see that, it can go from up-down then, left-right. Or you can go from left-to right. Ex for up-down then, left-right, 긁 (scratching). You read it in this order, ㄱ- ㅡ - ㄹ-ㄱ. (Thats not how you pronounce the actual word, I am just showing you order in which you read it. To know how syllables like this are pronounced, listen to native speakers).
Ex for left-right, 읽 (read). The letter order is ㅇ (silent) - ㅣ-ㄹ-ㄱ.
