Korean has 2 counting systems... that's right, two! There is pure korean (korean numbers) and sino-korean (Chinese numbers).
Pure:
하나 (hana) 1, 둘 (dul) 2, 셋 (set) 3, 넷 (net) 4, 다섯 (daseot) 5, 여섯 (yeoseot) 6, 일곱 (ilgop) 7, 여덟 (yeodeol) 8, 아홉 (ahop) 9, 열 (yeol) 10To do 11-19, 21-29, etc., you just add 10 and 1-9 together, add 20 and 1-9, etc...
Ex: 11(10+1) (열+하나) 열하나 (yeol-hana)스물 (seumul) (20), 서른 (seoreun) (30), 마흔 (maheun) (40), 쉰 (shin) (50). Apparently 60+ isn't used all that much, but I will include them.
예순 (yesun) (60), 일흔 (ilheun) (70), 여든 (yeodeun) (80), 아흔 (aheun) (90).If you want to say 100 and up, you use sino korean.
Sino: this is the easier of the two (for me at least)
일 (il) (1), 이 (i) (2), 삼 (sam) (3) , 사 (sa) (4), 오 (o) (5), 육 (yuk) (6), 칠 (chil) (7), 팔 (pal) (8) , 구 (gu) (9) , 십 (ship) (10)
20= 2+10= 이십 (i-ship) 30= 3+10= 삼십 (sam-ship), etc.
For 11-19, 21-29, etc., you do the same as pure, add 10, 20, etc with 1,2,3... And it's keeps on going.
백 (baek) 100
143 (100+43) 백사십삼 (baek-sa-ship-sam)
이백 200, 삼백 300, 사백 400, etc.
천 (cheon) 1000
2212 (2+1000, 2+100, 10+2) 이천이백십이 (i-cheon-i-baek-shib-i)
이천, 삼천, 사천, etc.
만 (man) 10,000
이만, 삼만, 사만, etc.Comment your answers to these questions I will give you:
