Prologue
I was running. Running in a giant field filled with little white and yellow flowers. Everything was so lush and perfect that it couldn't be true. This has to be a dream. But it's not. It feels all too real, the pounding that my bare feet make as they hit the soft ground. The softness as my long, white dress brushes my skin. The wind pulling back my hair from my face. It was like ancient magic. The kind in fairytales and once-upon-a-time. I was filled with happiness and love.
After what felt like hours, I suddenly felt this nagging in my mind that there was something. Something important I had to remember, but I couldn't. I kept trying to remember, but nothing. Finally I gave up, wanting to make the feeling of dread go away, just wanting to return to the freeness I felt earlier. All the while not noticing the grass thinning, and a few rocks lying around. I ran faster in hope to forget everything. And just as I was about to, I was falling down. The grass beneath my feet seemed to vanish, and I was being swallowed up by pure darkness. And just as I was about to hit the bottom, a face began to materialize and.....
Chapter 1
I woke up with a gasp and had the feeling that I was still falling. Crap, I fell...again. It's weird, I have had this dream a few times now and I always try to remind myself to stop before I fall, but it doesn't seem to be working. I mean come on! How hard is it to stop running?
And what was up with that face? In the dream I knew that face so well, but once when I am awake POOF, it just turns into a giant blob. According to dream websites it’s suppose to mean something important, but come on. And that falling is a sign of change in your life, but so far everything is the same and dull as ever. Oh well, now is not the time to think, now is the time to sleep.

*BEEP~BEEP~BEEP*
Ugh. I hate that noise. I think I would rather hear nails on a chalkboard. I sleepily reached out towards my alarm clock to make that horrible noise stop. Then I mustered all the strength I had to get out of my warm, comfy bed. I hate mornings. I am absolutely NOT a morning person. Never was, never will be and damn proud of it.
I was able to stumble all the way over to the edge of my bed, and just plopped down on it. Who needs school anyways? Just as I was about to fall back asleep, there was a pounding on my bedroom door.
"Go away," was all I was able to mumble, but still had some warning to it. I know who was on the other side of that door, and it was the last person I wanted to see.
Next thing I knew, my mattress was tilting underneath me and i was heading towards the ground.
"Rise and shine Sleeping Beauty! Oh wait, on second thought, minus the beauty part," Jason said as he burst into laughter. I looked around to see what happened, and there was my bed completely flipped over, and just so happened to land on me. I could feel my hair was all knotted and crazy from getting caught in the blankets. I glared up at the culprit that did this to my bed. " Hey Scarlett! I am proud of you though. You actually made it all the way to the edge of your bed! You’re improving every day," Jason pretended to wipe away a fake teardrop.
"Please tell me you are going to fix my bed, because there is no way I am," I said with annoyance in my voice. Why must I have a brother that is so energetic in the morning? Better yet, why did I have to be born in a family full of morning people? Mom, Jim, Jason, and my sister Violet.
"Haha! Maybe. If you get ready in time. I need a ride to school this morning and I don't want to be late," Jason taunted.
"OK fine. Now go. I need to change," I waved him out of the room and went over to my closet. I pulled out my favorite jeans, a white tank top, my cropped leather jacket, and ankle boots. Then I walked over to my bathroom and brushed out my crazy brown blob on the top of my head till my waves calm down. I brushed my teeth, and finished off with outlining my big, brown eyes with a thin line of black eyeliner. There! All done!
I grabbed my bag and headed downstairs to the kitchen where everyone was eating. As I entered, the smell of eggs and coffee filled my nose. Just like every day. I walked in to a bright room that hurt my sleepy eyes a bit, but quickly adjusted to it. I looked around to see Jason at the table already finishing up his breakfast. He was sitting with Violet, who seemed more interested in her bakery game than her breakfast, though what did you expect from a thirteen year old girl, and Jim, my mom's husband and Jason's and Violet's dad. Though I think of him as my dad, he isn't. My mom was pregnant with me when she was with him, and got married shortly after I was born and she was pregnant with Jason. My mom wasn't the type who believed in marriage, but Jim was able to persuade her somehow. I don't know anything about my dad, whether he was dead or alive. Mom never talked about him, ever. Speaking of my Mom, she was by the stove cooking.
She looked and smiled, with an amused tone saying, "You're up early this morning." She handed me a plate with the eggs that she just finished cooking.
"Yeah, you can thank Jason for that one," I scoffed, once again glaring at him. He just smiled right back.
"Hey Scarlett! Look at my new hairdo! What do you think?" Violet practically screamed from her seat. I looked over to see her long dark brown hair pulled into two low side braids, her eyes gleaming with excitement.
"They look nice," I responded.
"I know right! Well I saw this in....." I just stopped listening after a while. It was too early in the morning to listen to her.
"Well I gotta go to school now. Come on Jason. Bye everyone!" Jason and I left the house and got in the car. Jason is a year younger than me which makes him a junior. And as you can see from this morning, nothing pleases him more than to annoy me.
We arrived to school without saying much, which was strange. He hopped straight out and walked to the school. "Oh no, it's fine. No need to thank me for the ride," I said under my breath as I climbed out.
Before I could turn around, a pair of hands wrapped around my eyes. "Guess who..." said a sing-song voice.
"Brad Pitt?"
"Ha! You wish!" replied the voice. "And good morning to you too Scar!" I turned around to face a girl with straight, platinum blond hair all the way to her waist. I arched my head up to look at her face and was met with pale blue eyes.
"Good morning Sasha. Hey where's Jayden?"
"He is meeting us inside. Said he had to go see something important." Sasha just shrugged and we walked together into the school, and once when we entered, we ran right into a crazed mob. "What the hell is going on in here?" Sasha asked, a little confused.
"That would be the effect of mysterious new students enrolling into the oh-so boring Islton High," said a familiar voice.
I turned around to see Jayden with his chestnut hair perfectly styled and his eyes fixed on the mob ahead of him. I followed his gaze, but all I could see was the hoard of people.
Soon the first bell rang, and the mob began to thin out and I was able to finally see what everyone was going crazy about.
And once I saw, my jaw dropped about three feet towards the ground.
