It was so cold. The smell of mold and stale bread tortured her nose. She didn't know who she was. All she knew was that she had a four-year-old daughter. They named the child Neva, Neva was the only thing the girl cared about. The girl didn't know her name. She didn't know how long she had been there, she didn't even know how old she was. All the girl knew was the man's deceptively soft hands and steely eyes.

She spat up blood after taking another blow to the face. Her tormentor was especially mad today. In her head, she called him Lucifer, since her daughter read somewhere that Lucifer was an evil being. She found it a little odd that in all the years she had been there, she still didn't know his name. He thrust a knee into her chest and she fell to the floor her breathing choppy. She spat up more blood, then he stepped on her face, and everything went black. Everything always ended up going black.

"Mommy?" the girl opened her eyes and saw Neva standing over her. The girl gave her child a weak smile and her daughter giggled. The child knew the drill and dragged over a bucket filled with stale water, reading to clean the wounds. the girl stayed still as Neva cleaned the dirt out of the open cuts, and gingerly handled her bruises. The girl sighed, a four-year-old shouldn't have to act as a nurse to her mother.

After the clean up was done, the girl sat down with her daughter and opened one of the books the man provided. He said it was a sin for a child to be uneducated. Neva read to he mother fluently, which was quite peculiar. Neva's mother never spoke a word, but somehow Neva could read and write as well as Lucifer. Lucifer never hit Neva, but then again, she was his child. The girl sighed at her daughter's lineage. Why should such an angel be plagued with the blood of a monster?

The girl fell asleep, holding Neva in her arms. It was a perfectly normal day until the door opened and Lucifer walked in, yelling at them to get in the closet. That was when the shots began.

Hey guys, so the editing process has somewhat begun but it will be extremely slow as I have my job and an insane course load. Hopefully, with major cleaning, I can make this something that is worth the views. I still don't entirely like this beginning but I think it is at least somewhat readable now.
