Rain was always something that I had enjoyed, it gave you a calming atmosphere that not just any other weather could. The rhythm of the water drops hitting the windows made you almost stop and think about what is going on.
I sighed and pressed my forehead against the chilling glass, cold electricty shooting down my spine even as I pulled back. My mood was nowhere near fit for work today, especially a long shift like 8am till 11pm spent cleaning dirty windows. Atleast I was nearly finished, my last wndow and an hour left till 1pm till I can take off this ridiculous red stripy apron.
"are you nearly finished James?"
My boss Richard called as his skinny middle aged body ran around the cafe doing nothing in paticular but checking that the staff room doors where locked and no one and nothing was left inside of them. His hair peice was neary falling of his bald spot and his wheezing like an old crow, I'm surprised he hasn't put a hip in already.
"Yes boss"
My voice replied sourly, I hated being called James and the only person that has ever called me it was my dad. Forever using my full name to intimidate me and shout at me for failing at become something productive as he always said. His dissapointment and lack of encouragement in me was one of the reaspns I moved, so he could focus on my oh so brillaint twin brother.
"I don't need the cheek Mr McGuiness, remeber to lock up and be out by 11:30"
As soon as the metal keys hit my hand, the little annoying man was out the door with the ring of a bell, leaving me to continue scrubbing windows. I don't see why I cna't have let an hour ago, no one comes in this late at night. Yes, you do get your odd night owl come in with a hangover or coming or going to work but only about one a night.

The cloth rag hit the water in the red bucket sending a splash up my skinny black jeans , not that it bothered me it was just something I noticed. I loved water but I hated soaking wet clothes, they irratated me and made me feel heavy, not that a few droplets of water was nything to complain about.
For the next 5 minutes I made myslef a cup of coffee and sat down on one of the sofa seats in the cafe and inhaled the sweet scent of cafine. As soon as the hot bitter sweet liquid touched my lips I was hit by a very sudden wave of relaxation.
I didn't mean to but I got lost in the feeling, the rain, the coffee, the calm, just everything felt so good. It felt so nice that I didn't notice the sopping wet customer that had entered until he let out an awkward cough.
"Oh my god sorry sir, I didn't notice you"
My coffee cup clanked as I through it down on the table and jogged over to the counter and turning on the cash register. It was then I got a glimpse of the current customer, dripping heavy rain water onto the plastic floor.
He was much of a sir at all, in fact he was a boy that looked a good few years younger than me yet that didn't stop me from noticing how gorgeous he actually was. He had dark brown hair that was stuck to his forehead, his features were almost like that of a child yet still that of a man and his eyes. Oh god, his eyes. They were forest green orbs that peered out from beneath long feathery coal black eyelashes. But probably my favourite part of his appearance was the clothes he had chosen to come in. A pair of blue stonewash skinnies and a oversized black rain coat that absolutely swamped his tiny boysih frame.
It took me a while to register that I was still actually standing in front of him and starring at him with a godsmacked look. As soon as I did register I had to make it worse by heating my cheeks up and stuttering out a squeaky high.
"H-Hi, what c-can I get you?"
"Um... a expresso please"
"S-sure"
I turned around and cursed under my breath, for goodness sakes Jay you are fully grown man yet you still manage to get in fuss over a teenager that you've barely spoken to. Why can't you behave like a normal human being? that would be nice for a chnage,
Picking up the steaming cup of expresso over to the table the boy was now sitting at I watched his tiny body shiver, he was cold. I don't know what it was but seeing that sight tugged on my heart strings like nothing else, he looked so vunerable.
"Um.... would you like me to get you a towel"
The small boy looked up at me with a shy smile and the most gorgoues twinkle in his eyes that it made my whole body feel as though it was melting.
"I don't want to be a bother"
"Oh you won't be, stay there"
Desperately I searched around until I found a towel lying about for no paticular reason than to have a towl here. I grabbed my t-shirt since his jeans weren't wet and went straight back to the table where he now had his back rested agaisnt the wall with his knees propped up on the sofa and the coffee held in his hands, hovering under his lips. His very fulll, pink, plum lips.
"Here, there's a towel so you can dry off and here's my t-shirt, it might be a bit big but......."
"You really didn't need to do this"
"Well we could have you walking home soaking wet could we?"
There was a long awkard silence between us as he took a sip of his coffee and met my eyes, they out shon mine like stars.
"I'm Nathan"
"Jay"
He smiled and chuckeld gently under his breath, before gulping down the rest of his coffee in two quick swigs not even stopiing to let the burn go down. Nathan, it suited him well, in fact I quite liked the name but I especially like it on him.
"Nathan suits you"
"Thanks, Jay suits you too"
Yet another awkward silence I had never been a great conversation starter but I had never really had to be, I had grown up wit Tom doing all the talking. Nathan stood up and took my shirt into the bathroom before coming out seconds later. Just as I suspected, the dark grey All Saints t-shirt absolutely swamped his body and was practically dropping off his shoulder.
"I warned you it would be a bit big"
"Oh well, I wear lots of baggy clothes....... Anyway I better be off, my parents will be expecting me"
Nathan gave that stunner of a smile again and grabbed the still dripping wet mack, the rain wasn't to heavy anymore anyway.
"Thanks for the coffee, I will see you around... Jay"
------------------------------------
The door slammed behind me much louder than it was meant to as i through my jacket on the hook and walked straight into the lounge. There curled up on the sofa was Eleanor under he favoutire red and white heart blanket with re runs of Hollyoaks playing on the TV.
Quietly I tiptoed over and pulled the blanket up a little further before kissing her head gently, making sure not to wake her. All she did was figit a bit and cuddle further down into the pillow before finally finding her comfertable position.
"Night El"
I threw myself on my double bed with a sigh, happy to finally be home after an overly long day at work.
Images of Nathan ran through my head as I closed my eyes, his face, his eyes, his figure, his smile, it was like a continuing cycle of photographs. He continued and continued to pop up in my head till I finally fell asleep, his picture deciding to appear in my dreams instead.
