"What the hell.." Alice groaned, rubbing her head as she stood up from the fluffy black carpet that was her floor. 'Did I fall off the bed last night again? Jesus..' She thought and sighed, moving to her closet to get changed. She slipped on a floral romper, letting her wavy brown hair fall freely to her lower back. After scooping up her backpack she headed downstairs sluggishly, not entirely thrilled to be heading back to her final year of high school after summer break.

"Hello?" She called out, wondering if her parents were home, not really thinking too much of it when there was no reply. She grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl and bit down into it, quickly putting on her black $5 shoes she bought from Walmart as she head it the door. She never paid over $10 for anything, but her parents were loaded and showered her with gifts, so she didn't really need to purchase anything herself anyway.

Alice walked outside and munched on her apple, looking around at the surrounding streets. '... Where is everyone?' Alice lived on a busy street which was usually packed with cars at this time of day, but Alice could only see cars parked in driveways.

Alice pulled out her phone, and was about to call her friend, Anna, but the screen stayed black when she tried to power it on. "What the fuck? I swear I charged this last night.." She grumbled in frustration. Her parents car wasn't in the driveway, maybe she was just overreacting, maybe it was a public holiday and she didn't know and she hadn't charged her phone.

Alice headed back inside the house, looking the door behind her as the feeling of uneasiness hung over her. She quickly moved to the TV, to find that the TV wasn't turning on either. Now Alice was incredibly confused and went over to check the fridge. It felt hot. 'The power's off? That doesn't explain my phone though..' Alice emptied her school bag onto table, putting only her chewing gum back into the front pocket. She then headed to the pantry, stocking her bag full of packeted and canned food and filling her blue water bottle with a small peace logo in the corner. she slung her bag back on, deciding to go out and explore. She kept telling herself that she was overreacting and that she'd watched to many zombie movies, but she couldn't help but to be unsettled by the whole situation.

Alice headed out again, into the supposedly empty world. Everything looked so dull. She wandered down the street, hoping to see any kind of movement, but the movement never appeared. Alice walked for a solid hour around her neighbourhood, even peered into several people's houses, nothing. There was nothing.

She was now heading back home, deciding it was probably safest to stay there until she found out was going on when she gasped, startled by a loud, deep voice calling from behind her. "Hey!"
Alice was spooked by the sudden break of silence and started to run, sprinting all the way back to her home and Lockie the door, breathing heavily. He sounded over 20, and like bad news, so of course it horrified her. Suddenly it all became too much and Alice started crying, but quickly stopped when she heard a large bang at her door.
