Alice knew better than to make a noise, not wanting to alert the man to her position. She crawled from the door and behind her kitchen counter, Holding her breath and waiting for another knock or to hear the man's rough voice again. but the banging had stopped, and everything was silent. Alice decided to peek over the counter top, only to see a tall man with dark hair peering in through her window. She almost screamed but held it back, ducking back down. The man didn't see her, much to her relief. But, as she thought about it, she decided maybe she shouldn't be hiding. Maybe he knows what's happening. She looked over again to see him checking out the front yard, his back turned to the glass. Alice recognised his work uniform from a cafe around the corner, which calmed her a little. 'I mean.. It's not like a cafe would hire a psycho.. They make good food there too..' her stomach rumbles slightly at the thought.
Alice grabbed a knife out of a drawer, closed her eyes for a second to psych herself up and then quickly swung open the front door. She held the knife out in front of her and pointed at him, furrowing her brow, "who are you?" She tried to sound as intimidating as he looked, but it came out a lot more like a squeak rather than a demand. Now that she was closer she could inspect him a little better. He had nicely quiffed up hair, stubble and light grey eyes that really stood out against the rest of his tanned face.
He threw his hand up in the air, smiling. "Sorry, I was on my way to work this morning, but then I noticed that I couldn't see anybody, so I left my bike at work and wandered around, that's when I saw you. I just want to know what's going on. Do you know?" He questioned, cocking his head to the side gently and raising an eyebrow. Alice felt relieved that the man wasn't trying kill her, but still didn't know if she could trust him or not. "Well, I don't know what's happening either.." Alice trailed, looking to the side. The man took a step towards her to which Alice quickly held the knife up higher, "hey, stay back. Even though I'm a girl I could easily plough this into your chest. How can I even trust anything you're saying?"
The man chuckled, much to Alice's shock. "I'm not going to hurt you, okay? I just want to know what's going on.." He sighed and kept his hands up I the arm, "my name's Kody, I'm 26, and I work at the cafe down the road.. I don't know who you are, or what's going on, but I won't hurt you. Your the only person I've seen all morning so I'd be a bit silly if I tried to kill you, because I'd be alone again wouldn't i?" He asked rhetorically and laughed. 'This guy's insane..' She thought as then lowered the knife, my name's Alice" she mumbled then hesitantly suggested, "do you want to come inside?" Normally Alice wouldn't let strangers into the house, but under the circumstances she felt it was right. They sat at her kitchen table and discussed what they should do. "Well, I think we should gather whatever we need into bags and walk back to my cafe, we've got some bikes there we can use. Do you have a backpack I could borrow?" Kody questioned and Alice nodded, leading him upstairs to her bedroom. She walked into her closer and searched around for a bag while Kody sat on her bed. "Hey, so how old are you?" He called out to her as he examined the pictures of her and her friends on her bedside table. "You're like my age right?" He asked, assuming she couldn't be any younger than 22. "I'm sixteen" she replied and sighed, shaking her head and whispering "creep" to herself.
Alice found a huge black travel backpack and grinned, taking out to him. "You can use this, I'll use my school bag." He just stared at her. ".. Sixteen? Seriously? You look so.. Mature.." He sighed softly to himself as Alice huffed and made her way downstairs to pack her bag. She took out all the cans and tried to plan more carefully now, assuming she wouldn't be coming back. 'I'll let him carry food.. I'll take... Fuck, I don't even know what to take.' Alice sat and waited for Kody to come down.
Kody was sitting up in her room still, taking is time as he looked at her belongings. He was about to open up her underwear drawer when he noticed something out of the window. He quickly turned, crouching by the window and looking out. Something crawled out from the shadows of the neighbouring house and Kody couldn't help but to gasp. "What the fuck is that?" He mumbled to himself, watching as the creature lurked towards the house. It was human size, but very slender and grey all over. It was naked but it didn't have any parts anywhere, it was just a body. It's fingers and toes were longer then a humans and when it snarled it revealed its pointy, yellow teeth and hissing tongue. It took Kody a moment to realise the creature was snarling at him, but when he did, he bolted downstairs to find Alice. "Alice, we've got to get the fuck out of here, right now."
