Chapter 7: The Battle for Trost (Part 1)

Before anyone could do anything, a blast of steam blew everyone off the wall. They began to free fall, but managed to hook themselves to the wall, skidding to a stop. Connie was the first to spot Samuel falling to the ground, barely conscious .

"Samuel!" He yelled, but he didn't respond. Sasha unhooked herself and ran down the side of the wall at an incredible speed, using the gas to her advantage. She flipped and kept running, shooting one harpoon into the wall, and the other into his leg, she managed to stop his descent. He swayed back and forth, as he hung upside down.

"Samuel! Try not to move!"

He groaned weakly as blood ran up his leg and dripped onto his face. Lucas breathed a sigh of relief before Connie began to speak again.

"T-The gates been b-breached....."

The gate of Wall Rose had been destroyed. Thankfully, the barricades set up close to the gate managed to catch the larger boulders, stopping them from raining down on the city. Only the building closest to the gate had been severely damaged.

"Again.... The Titans are going to get in again!"

There was an eerie silence, as the gravity of the situation dawned on them. Eren made the first move.

"Ready the artillery! Four groups! Prepare for battle!" He drew his swords, and started for the top of the wall. "Our target is right in front of us! The Colossal Titan! This is our chance! Don't let it slip away!"

"Get to the cannons!" Lucas yelled as he followed Eren. Mina, Thomas, Sasha and Connie not far behind. They got to the top, but the Colossal Titan was preparing to swing. He ran his giant hand across the top of the wall, destroying everything in it's path.

"Get back!" Thomas cried, pulling Lucas and Connie back off the wall.

"He destroyed the cannons!"

"Where's Eren?"

"We need to get back up there!"

"Let's go then!"

They returned to the top, but the Colossal Titan was gone. An awestruck Eren hung on the other side of the wall. Thomas leaned over the side.

"Eren! Did you kill it?"

"No! It's just like five years ago! He suddenly appeared, then suddenly disappeared!"

He brought himself up beside Thomas. "I'm sorry I let it get away."

"What are you apologizing for?" Lucas bowed his head in shame. "We couldn't even help you."

"Hey!" Connie shouted angrily. "Now is not the time for that! The wall's been breached! We need to hurry and seal it before the Titans get in!"

"What are you doing?" A man with the Garrison logo on his jacket appeared. The group came to a salute.  "The Colossal Titan response operation is already underway! Return to HQ at once! Anyone who's come into contact with it remember to give a report!"

"Yes sir!"

"We pray for the advance team's success!" Connie added. The man raced past them, to fulfill his duties.

"Let's go!" Mina yelled.

As the group flew across the city, the bells rang, signalling the evacuation. Members of the Garrison were going in the opposite direction, to go defend the wall. Some stayed to keep the civilians from panicking. The group arrived, and immidiatly went to the gas storage room to fill up their tanks, and check their equipment. Many others were running around doing the same. An officer was adressing everyone as they prepared.
