a short freewrite/one-shot/image/whatever you want to call this where Luna has a cuddle with Daddy Tom and Daddy Ben, inspired by the weather right now as rain taps outside my window and the weather gets the best of me. Happy snuggles!

💛

Luna woke to the sound of something going tap, tap, tap above her. It was a soft little noise, a gentle rhythmic pattern, one she instantly, after a moment longer of listening, recognized as rain, quiet and gently needling. She listened to it, burrowing deeper into her warm covers, remembering how, just before drifting asleep, Tom had showed her the weather forecast, letting her know of the approaching rain.

"Nothing awful," he'd told her. "Just a little shower for a little while. Perfect weather for a nap."

"You don't have to go to work, do you?" she'd asked, looking again at his phone and the screen, lit to show the upcoming rain.

"No, darling," he'd reassured. "We've got the next few days off, remember? Still have a few days of vacation before we need to head back to the hospital."

"What if something happens, though? Aren't you on standby for emergency, and with rain, doesn't that increase the possibility of accidents? Unsafe driving? Emergencies? They'll probably need y—!"

"Luna," the voice of Dr. Cumberbatch cut in, intervening. "It's alright, love. Tom and I both aren't on call. Other people are available. Besides, we don't work in emergency medicine, remember?"

"That's not true," she said. "You work as the emergency doctor on call at the pavilion, and someone may come in."

"Yes," Dr. Cumberbatch agreed. "I am, true, and provide emergency assistance when needed, but that's in the behavioral health pavilion, not the main hospital. And, right now, I'm off duty, and other people, other doctors and nurses, are available." He flicked a look at Tom. "We both are, Tom and I. Right now, we're here. Home. With you. On vacation, most importantly."

Luna had looked between the two men, the two doctors, not quite believing them, her two caregivers and guardians, her anxiety chewing away at her. She fidgeted with her fingers, again glancing at Tom's phone. "Are you sure?"

"Yes, baby," Tom said.

"Absolutely," Dr. Cumberbatch had followed before getting out three mugs and declaring, because of the weather, perhaps some tea for everyone, which, Luna immediately agreed to, never missing an opportunity to savor a warm brew of chamomile, a blend she enjoyed very much and found, when her nerves were starting, helped soothe her. Ben made three mugs, steeped to perfection, and Luna, once it was cool, sipped it, cupped between her hands to keep warm. They sat in the small kitchen for a while, talking in soft voices about silly things and she drank the entire mug, the blend warm, comforting, and, entirely, caffeine-free. It wasn't long before she started to feel drowsy, warmed by the soothing tea that, unfortunately for her, made her yawn and had Tom suggest perhaps she have a midday nap.

"You may," he told her. "However long you need. Ben and I won't go anywhere, darling." He smiled at her kindly.

"Why must my favorite tea always do this?" she grumbled. "A cup of sedation, good grief. How rude."

Dr. Cumberbatch chuckled. "Yes, indeed. How rude."

"Wake me up in thirty," she said, heading towards the kicten exit and stairs, where, upstairs, her small bedroom waited, converted into her room and, before her arrival, had once been a guest bedroom. "I want to journal later, alright."
