Chapter One
My name is Maya Conaghers and I was sixteen years old when I first discovered 'hope' wasn't what I should base my life upon. Hope starts off with an expectation of your personal imagination that burns and leads you on like a fairy tale. You never really know what is going to happen in the end until the ending has approached. Like you and I, merely humans, hope has the ability to crush someone's dreams in a very instant. I realized that hope is so overly abused in today's society and feel a little remorse deep down, but I shall never rely on hope ever again in my life. The only thing hope has done for me is stain and perish my judgment.

The evening showers grew thick and I am dreading getting off this bus more with every drop. It's the end of May and I can't will the sun shine and summer air here fast enough. I could see the station ahead. The slower the bus grew still the faster the butterflies in my tummy rocketed around. I stood when the driver directed me to get off and waves of fear crashed down and almost knocked me back into my seat. I want more than anything to pinch myself and wake up from this real life nightmare. I know it's real though because dreams never hurt this much. If heartache this major existed in the world I slip away to when my eyes are closed I would never blink again, constantly in fear of losing the progress I have conjured to make myself physically function from the hideous events of life. It's like the feeling you have after beating the hardest level of your favorite game after trying for days, and then you realize you didn't save it so you have to start from the very beginning. Unfortunately I have to start over in real life. It's nothing like a game you play over and over, it painstakingly sucks and you don't have the chance to save yourself. Or others for that matter. . . Mom would still be here and I wouldn't be orphaned to my long lost grandparents if that were so.
