✏AN: hi everyone, so you said that you wanted a chapter where James and lily DO meet up, so here it is : )
{lily}
"Where are we going first, people?" Alice grinned, looking at me, Sev and Marlene. I had been pestering Sev to come with me and the girls since this morning. Although I only had a few hours to convince him, I can be very persuasive if I want to, I don't think Sev really wanted to come at all, never mind with us. He never really did anything apart from study in the library, Im not saying that's a bad thing, because I do it myself, but he did it constantly.
The response to Alice's question was a dismissive grunt from Sev and a "I don't mind" from Marlene. So I took the initiative. "Well if no one's got any specifications or suggestions, I say we go into the ice cream parlour, then go get stationary for school, then we can finish up in the three broomsticks?" I think my suggestion was reasonable, as I also was aware that Sev didn't really want to be there so I made sure we didn't have to walk far that far.
"Yep, that sounds great lily" Severus said, smiling.
I nodded at him, slightly weirded out at him smiling. Severus and smiling are two words that normally don't go together.
"Yeah, but I want to go to Zonk's joke shop as well" Alice told us, "apparently there is this thing in there, and it tells you the future, and you go in there with one other person- it's normally someone you don't know because then you can take it seriously, and then you get your palms read, and after, you get gifts from the shop. For free"
For about five seconds everyone was silent. "the future?" Marlene said, visibly smirking.
"Yes the future" Alice replied.
"You don't believe in that do you?"
"Maybe. Anyway, why not, it's just a bit of fun!" Alice assured us.
"Okay, whatever, but the first place I want to go to is the ice cream parlour, so lets go"
It wasn't exactly that far to walk, from where we were standing, you could just see the light pink shop banner that stuck out of the front for potential customers to spot. I had only been in there a few times as it was very, very expensive. I think it was two galleons, ten sickles and one Knut for a one scoop ice cream, but although I hated it when shops exploit people's money, this high price was defiantly worth it. Every sickle.
We pushed open the heavy, ivory white door, a brass bell making the shop keeper aware of our presence. She turned around, greeting us with a large, bright red smile.
"Hello there! Hogwarts students, I presume?" she said, placing a hair net over her mid length hair.
"Yeah, we are" Marlene confirmed.
"Don't normally see you around here" the shop lady said, looking at Severus from behind the counter with all of the different flavours of ice cream displayed in small, plastic tubs, although they were small, they probably had some sort of undetectable extension charm on them.
"Uh, I'm normally spending my time doing something useful" Severus said rudely. I don't think the shop keeper knew how to interoperate it, so she just ignored the comment and proceeded like nothing was said, though it was probably Severus's intension to end the conversation as quickly as possible.
"Okay, so what can I be getting you girls... and boy then?" she said, rubbing her hands together.
Alice dived straight into ordering a huge ice cream. She ordered a six scoop ice cream, but it was okay as she was one d those kind of people who could eat a whole feast and not gain a pound I'm weight, and I think he noticed that she doesn't gain weight much a long time ago, as she eats so much at feats and dinner, if any normal person ate that about of food, they would be either sick or extremely over weight.
When it came to me, I ordered, knowing exactly what I wanted as I had had a lot of time to consider all of the thirty different flavours e because I was the last one to order.
I smiled, "can I have one scoop of strawberry ice cream, please?" The others would probably call me boring for picking such a normal and common kin of isle cream- even muggles had strawberry ice cream .
Severus didn't order anything, but I don't think anyone was expecting him to anyway.
"Next stop, stationary!" Alice said.
The stationary shop was okay, I got my essentials such as more quills, some self inking for course work, class work and homework, and also some regular ones for exams, I also for sugar quills and some purple ink, no one else bought anything from the shop, so it was a very quick, in-out visit.
The next shop was Zoko's and then afterwards, we would finally be able to sit down in the three broomsticks and drink a nice, warm, frothy and rich butter beer.
Luckily, much to everyone's satisfaction, Zoko's was pretty much next door to the previous shop, so it wasn't exactly a trek across the village.
When we stepped out of the cold February, winter air and into the inviting joke shop, the whole atmosphere changed, suddenly, a bleak winters morning has changed into a happy, sunny day, or at least the shop made you feel that way.
The shop was great, there was demonstrations on how to work the items they sold there and there was also 'have a try' stations where you could test the product yourself. For example, there was antigravity boots, but obviously they weren't really antigravity, they most probably just had a feather weight charm on them so you could bounce around, essentially feeling weightless.
I walked over to a box of 'electros', each the size of about two ten pence pieces. each had a metal disk on one side and on the reverse side, there was a small plastic pad, probably for sticking it to your hand, on the screen above the box full of the electros was a video of someone using one an shaking someone else's hand, and the unsuspected victim got a small electric shock when they shook the jokers hand, the shock made the girls eyes grow wide and her hair stick up.
I felt a tap on My shoulder. "Me and Marlene are going to line up for that fortune future thingy, you coming?" I nodded, following Alice to two lines of people.
We lined up on the second line, chatting to each other until it was Alice's go at it, she went in, me an Mar waving at her. After about ten long minutes, Alice came out again, leaving me to go to my turn, so she just told me she would tell me what the 'fortune teller' told her.
As I began to walk through a small corridor, the room in sight at the end, I realised that I probably would know the supposedly stranger I would be partnered with as basically everyone from Hogwarts was here, then an even more dreadful thought came to my head. What if I had the bad luck to be paired with a marauder?
I walked into the tiny room, squishing behind the circular table in front of the fortune teller. The table was very curious, it was split in half, one half of he design was day and the other nighttime. The day time had birds flying and trees swaying along with a bright orange sun, and on the nighttime, it had a white, half crescent moon, with planets and stars surrounding it.
My time of looking at the table were over when I heard the fortune teller say something. "Ah, we have our second finder, come and sit, and I will tell, while you find the future"
I turned around on my stool, only to be faced by the one and only. James potter.
"Hello lily" he said smugly while he sat down onto his seat next to me.
✏AN: hi, I know this is SLIGHTLY longer than a usual chapter, but I felt that it came to a natural stop. The end of this chapter and the start of the next chapter will be a little but weird, but it's meant to be, okay? I haven't gone mad and weird. the reason why it's going to be a bit strange, is because the 'fortune teller's' character is meant to be really mystical, odd and eccentric. so I'll see you next chapter. I hoed you liked it. Please vote!
