Chloe had pulled back onto the road and the truck was sailing through the streets at a much more relaxed speed.
"Are you going to be okay Chloe? I am sure it'll feel like I never left but I can't be too sure." Max didn't want to leave her best friend again but she knew it had to be done.
"I'll be fine Sista, don't get so twisted." She playfully nudges Max in the arm. "I owe you big time, I know you are going back to save Nathan...But I know you still care about saving Rachel and stopping this crazy bullshit."
"Tonight we get to be pirates, just like when we were kids." Max grinned.
"How so Mad Max?"
"Because tonight we need to grab us some photo booty! It'll be a risky mission Captain Chloe but we need to pull it off to save Arcadia Bay!."
"You're so lame Max...but that's why I love you." She chuckled.
This truly was the Chloe Max knew from her childhood growing up in Arcadia Bay. She had not heard Chloe sound so genuinely happy in a long time.
"I'm going to get in touch with past Chloe as soon as possible, this time I'm not going to be a super douche."
"How about we get our punk on? I've got Sex Pistols in the CD player. So punch it Chewie!"
"A Star Wars reference? Wowsers Chloe maybe it's not to late for you to get some geek cred." Max giggled as she hit play.
John Lydon's rough and ready vocals ignited the beat up old truck.
"We're pretty...A pretty vacant!" Caterwauled Chloe.
Max didn't mind the racket, it was nice to see Chloe happy and enjoying herself. It had been far too long.
Before they knew it they were approaching Blackwell and by the looks of it the party was still in full swing. Max turned off the CD player, cutting Chloe off mid flow.
"Aww man! I was just starting to really rock out!"
"We can't get caught now Chloe, Jefferson could still be around here."
They hastily existed the car, luckily the party gave them the perfect excuse to be walking around the campus at night. The people who were around didn't really notice nor care, besides sneaking in an outsider isn't so bad compared to what must be going down in the vortex club. Max had told Wells about how Jefferson talked to Kate before she tried to jump from the roof. Max smirked to herself, telling Wells about Jefferson really was the best course of action. And Max was now convinced Jefferson wanted Kate to kill herself so the trail would have gone cold. Thinking about it Max doubted Jefferson would drug Victoria now, the 'Everyday Hero's' contest was probably how he was going to cover it up.
They had now reached the girls dorm, the normally clean and presentable forecourt was littered with cans and other party related items.
"Poor Samuel, has his work cut out for him." Max said to herself under her breath.
Chloe overheard. "Poor dude, I hope he doesn't have to pick up too many rubbers. The Tobanga was always a hot spot"
"Eww, I don't even want to think about it!" Max replied feeling repulsed. "Anyways we need to hurry!"
"Can't keep lover boy waiting, he isn't exactly the most patient person in the world." She quipped.
They enter the dorm carefully trying to be as stealthy as humanly possible. Chloe definitely had it down to a t, all that rebelling was finally coming in handy. Max noticed the dorm seemed absent, so everyone really is partying like it is the end of the world after all, go figure!
"I think we are in the clear." She whispered.
She moved hastily towards her dorm room door and unlocked it. And was glad to see their was no Jefferson in sight.
"Phew, I was almost expecting Jefferson to be in here waiting for me." Max sighed in relief.
"He might be here soon if we don't hurry the fuck up and get the hell out of here!"
Chloe was right and without further ado Max used her phones flashlight to scan her memorial wall for a suitable photograph.
"Want me to hit the light?" Chloe inquired.
"No, someone might see us."
"Good thinking Maximilian!"
Finding nothing suitable on her memorial wall she moved over to where her CD player was and rifled through one of the draws. After a few minutes of digging she finally found some suitable candidates.
"I think seven months back should do the trick ."She pulled out a picture of her and her parents and slipped it into her bag.
Just then Max received a text from Nathan.
Nathan: I hv a pic 7 months old.
Max: Found one too, it's around 7 months old as well.
Nathan: GR8! Met at lighthouse asap.
Authors note
I know this part hasn't been the most exciting but I felt like it needed to be written. The next part is going to skip right to meeting Nathan.
I hope in episode 5 Chloe finally gets over her abandonment issues.
