Julie

"One two three four....." 

I lift my arms up and down gracefully as my toes point inward. I balance on one foot and spin before jumping into the air, doing a pirouette and landing on both feet. I spin around towards the other side of the stage as the music keeps playing. I do a few more complicated moves and jumps.  Finally when it finishes I bow towards the invisible audience. 

"Beautiful Julie! You just keep getting better and better. I see the other dance classes have been helping you a lot!" I also take a bunch of other classes like hip-hop to help me be more flexible and experience different dances. 

"Thanks I'll see you next week!" I tell my teacher as I go into the locker room. I quickly change out of my ballet shoes and change into a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. I also put on another pair of black sneakers, made for dancing. I run across the hall into another studio where I saw my teacher, Mr. Vazquez and my partner, Kai. 

He smiles at me and moves his brown hair out of the way of his dark blue eyes. His eyes follow me as I walk over to Mr.Vazquez and let him know that I'm here. "Julie! You're early!" He says with a big smile. I smile back. "Yeah Ms. Rose let me out earlier than I expected. So here I am." "Then you two better start on your routine, then...I'll be in the office doing some paperwork, just knock when you two need something." He says before turning into the office and leaving me and Kai by ourselves. 

"How was your day today?" he asks me. I meet his blue eyes and smile. "It was fine, Anne was just a little upset about her partner for a project but the others say hi." He smiles. "That's good...Should we start?" I nod my head. He walks over to the stereo and presses the play button. 

The music starts playing as we take our positions. I'm crouched on the floor while Kai is standing up on his toes. 

We start moving our arms and legs with the same motions like a clock ticking along with the music. 

  "What do you mean? Oooh
When you nod your head yes

But you wanna say no"

We both move to the right and nod our heads in time with the music, taking a side step every 3 steps to the right.

What do you mean? Heeey
When you don't want me to move
But you tell me to go"

  "What do you mean?
What do you mean?
Said we're running out of time
What do you mean?
Oh oh oh What do you mean?
Better make up your mind
What do you mean? " 

We both move towards each other, Kai runs his hands through his hair and down his body as I do the same. Then we move our legs to the music, our arms following suit. He starts mouthing the song to add more emotion.  

One step to the right and two to the left. Two steps to the left and one to the right. 

  "You're so indecisive of what I'm saying 
Trying to catch the beat, make up your heart.
Don't know if you're happy, or complaining "

We both jump up and move our bodies in circles around each other. Our arms and legs shoot out at the same time. 

  "Don't want for us to end where do I start
First you wanna go to the left and you want to turn right
Wanna argue all day, making love all night."

We move towards each other again as I place my hands on Kai's chest as he leads us in a quick waltz before letting go and doing some quick break dancing.

Ohh I really want to know...
What do you mean?" 

  "When you nod your head yes
But you wanna say no
What do you mean?
When you don't want me to move
But you tell me to go"
