Meeting Alec

Alec arrives for Shay about 10 minutes later.
"Alec!" She squeals when she sees him.
"Emmie!" He says, and they hug for a while.
"Come sit down!" She says, sitting down in the couch and gesturing for him to sit down next to her.
"This is Alec, my boyfriend." She says, looking at him and not looking at us when she talks.
"Hello, Alec." EZRA says, being sarcastic but very sassy at the same time, like why-didn't-you-tell-me.
"Mr. Fitz... Emmie told me you were good friends!"
"Yeah, um...I know this may sound petty, but we spend a lot of time talking about our lives, but you didn't think to tell me that you were dating someone I was living with?"
"Ezra, please don't make this a big deal." Emily pleads.
"No...I'm sorry Emily, but it is a big deal. We hang out all the time, we are friends outside of work and you live in my building!"
"I'm sorry, sir. It's just, well, Emmie and I thought that you wouldn't exactly be supportive, you know?"
"Why would you think that?"
"Ezra, this house has so much going on, that you don't need more stress. I know that, I get that. I'm not complaining, but we were fine with being the only ones who knew. If we could be content with that, we can be content with ourselves when we are married." Emily explained.
"Don't you think you guys are rushing into this relationship?" Spencer asks.
"Mrs. Cavanaugh, with all respect, we have talked this through a lot. Every day at The Brew, all of our dates, movie nights, everything."
"Wait....so Emily has been going to your apartment in my apartment complex, and I didn't even know it?"
"Ezra. Please quit being my big brother! Okay! Besides, I knock on his door, he comes to the door, then we go do something, see a movie, usually."
"That's even worse! You go up and down all the time and I don't even realize it?"
"Ezra, quit. Right now. Got it?" Aria says.
"We need to speak in private." He says.
"Alright." I say, and lead the way to the elevator. We go in, and he starts.
"What in the world, Aria? They lied to us for months! And in my building?"
"You are overreacting. Emily just wanted a relationship to herself. We always make such a big deal out of everything around here, she probably just wanted something that the whole house didn't know. And as for the apartment building thing, Emily is so weird about going to people's houses, she didn't even go in, I promise you that. But that's not even what you are concerned about! You are so upset that you are blind and didn't now that they were together. We all have our own little things, and Emily's happens to be just not getting close to anyone or anything. She is an OCD, innocent, kind person and you are overreacting completely over this."
EZRA doesn't say anything, defeated.
"You know I'm right." I finish.
"I know nothing."
"Whatever. Don't admit it, but you are going to go out there and act differently toward our FAMILY!!!!!" I scream.
EZRA sulks out of the elevator and puts on a smile. We sit down I speak for EZRA.
"Ezra is very sorry for the way he treated you. Go on."
"What do you guys think about us getting married?" Alec asks.
"I think it should wait a few months, if not a year." I say.
"We were thinking we could get married in November?"
"8 months sounds reasonable. You can be here for Christmas!"
"Sounds great, thanks." Alec says.
"Doesn't he have to propose first?" Hanna points out.
Emily gets in her purse and pulls out something. A ring? A ring.
"About 5 hours ago, he proposed."
I sit there in shock. She got engaged and didn't tell us? Man, some impression I set.
"My Lordie." Ali says, coming and sitting in the chair by the couch Emily is sitting on.
"Em, it's so beautiful! I'm so happy for you!"
"Well, she didn't say yes yet." Alec says.
"WHAT?" I ask.
"I wanted your blessing, all of your blessings."
"I would like to spend some more time with Alec before I do that." I say.
Everyone else nods their heads and so does Emily.
"Why don't you sleep in the basement?" Emily tells Alec. "Then you can spend some more time with them."
"May I?" He asks us.
"Of course." Ezra says, "And I won't charge you rent."
We laugh and Alec goes to the basement, we all part ways, and get some sleep. But when we wake up...all bets are off.
