After 30 minutes with not a word from Coralie, I decide to check on her. I set my ear against the cold door and I hear the shower still running. I softly tap the door with my knuckles, "Coralie, are you doing all right in there?" I hear a slight "mhmm" and then a loud bang, causing my body to rush into the bathroom full force, seeing what caused the commotion.  My eyes latch onto Coralie's wet body, lying on her butt with a strange look on her face. Thank god she had a towel on, because I don't know what I would've done if I walked in on that situation.

"It seems that I fell." She states with a monotone voice, which causes a slight snicker to come out of my body. She looks up at me with hurt in her eyes, obviously not okay with the fact that I was laughing at her. "Why are you laughing at me?" I walk over to her and slowly pull her arm by her arms.

"I wasn't laughing at you."

"Yes, you were, I heard you,"  She proclaims. I walked over to the shower making sure not to slip, and turn it off for her.

"Well I am sorry for laughing then. Come on, let me go get you some PJ's."

"What are PJ's?" She questions while following me into the bedroom. Her long blonde hair is sticking to her face and shoulders in all types of directions, dripping onto my carpet. I cringe, but ignore it for the time being.

"Clothing that you wear to sleep in." I grab a clean, black v-neck and a pair of boxer briefs and hand them over to her.

"You wear different clothes just to sleep in?" She baffles. "That's stupid." I raise my eyebrow up at her comment. She slowly makes her way back to the bathroom and locks the door, leaving me to go get the air mattress that I can sleep on for tonight.

On the way to the downstairs closet, I lightly tap on my dad's door and enter. I knew he wasn't actually going to sleep any time soon, he rarely ever sleeps. He looks up at me over his reading glasses and sets down the book that he was indulging in.

"Hey son," He greets. I walk over to his bedside chair and sit on the edge of it.

"Hey Dad. I just wanted to thank you for being so cool about this whole situation. I really didn't think you were going to be okay with it. " I look him in the eyes with sincerity.

"She's a lovely girl, it's sad to meet her in such sad circumstances. She reminds me of your mother in a way." He looks away from my face while talking about my mother. I could tell that his mind was in a million places so I get up and hug his neck.

"Goodnight Dad." He hugs me tight and with a nod, I shut his door and walk out of his room.

Carrying a huge air mattress up a flight of stairs is not as easy as someone might think. After a long five minutes of trying not to hit the hung pictures on the walls, I sling open my bedroom door and slide the mattress in. I put my arms in my hips in triumph, and look up to see Coralie watching me.

"Is that my bed?" She asks. My t-shirt is huge on her, nearly reaching her mid thighs. In the short period of her being out of the shower, her hair was already completely dried. Must be a mermaid thing.

"No, it's my bed actually." I huff.

"But that's your bed." She points to my queen size bed in the middle of the room.

"Well I'm not going to make you sleep on this uncomfortable thing. Just sleep on my bed tonight."

"But I'm not tired, I slept five hours yesterday." She states. Five hours? That's not long at all.

"Five hours isn't enough sleep."

"Mer-people usually only sleep 2 hours a night." She bites back, with a bit of attitude in her voice. I raise my hands to my sides in surrender.

"Well I need at least eight hours of sleep to even function tomorrow." I start making my bed and throwing extra blankets down, just to make sure she doesn't get cold. She steps over to my bed reluctantly lays down.

"What are we doing tomorrow?" She asks.

"I'm taking you shopping for clothes."

"But I have clothes." She states.

"Those are my clothes. You need some girl clothes." I can see her shrugging underneath the blanket.

"I like your clothes." Her statement makes my stomach twist in a weird way and I look away from her stare.

"I do too, that's why they are mine." I reply, causing her to go silent. Hopefully I didn't upset her. "Now let's try to sleep, we have a big day tomorrow." I walk over to the small lamp on my desk, and switch the light to off, engulfing the entire room into darkness. I safely make it back to my air mattress and cover myself in blankets. I lay there looking at the ceiling for a good hour, thinking of different scenarios of how tomorrow is going to go. I thought Coralie was asleep, until a heard faint sniffles from across the room. She's crying. I decide to let her cry it out, knowing that I can't console the pain that's in her heart.
