Chapter ONE

Draco, Draco, madam Quist cried.

"Wherever can this retch of a boy be this time of day? This is preposterous I tell you; whenever he gets back I'll make sure to give him 10 strokes of the cane". Angrily she stormed out of the parlor way, straight into her bedroom. Lying faced up in her king sized Armenian bed, Madam Quist started to imagine; "What if, what if I could get rid of Draco once and for all? Then all the wealth of my late husband Sir Ruther Dalmatrix Maximus iii would be mine and Alice's alone to bear. Money would never be a problem to us ever again; we could live as royals for eternity. Besides Draco is the bastard child of Sir Ruther and the late Mrs. Hensworth anyway". An awkward smile crossed her face. It would've been insane to say the very thought of murder never crossed her mind, for madam Quist was wallowing in herself made grace and the very thought of what if?

Still thinking on the matter, Madam Quist took a quick peep out her bedroom window, beside the newly bought piece of furniture which was mounted to her right. Admiring the beauty of the vineyard outside which was indeed a lovely sight to behold; grape and apple trees which stood as tall as the skies above, with crisp ripe fruits hanging beneath waiting to be plucked. Madam Quist could never be as pleased or proud of her life until someone came into focus.

"Alice" the beauty, as radiant as the sun with goldlocks of long raging hair reaching the end of her waist, lips as red as blood and a gentle smile enough to melt the toughest of hearts. She was helping the yard workers pluck the grapes when she heard the voice of her mother crying out to her.

"Alice, my dear child why would you work in the vines as if you were a slave in thine fathers' house? Look at the dress I bought you last summer, it is now torn and worn out of proportion". Alice feeling a sense of pleasure from all the rumbling her mother poured at her now replied; "Mother I wish to cause you no displeasure with my doing, but I feel it no harm at all to aid the workers in the vines and as for the dress I have more to wear and as many to spare". Madam Quist knew her daughter ever so well that whenever her Alice made up her mind to do something she actually gets her way.

"All right Alice, do as you please besides I have enough money to buy you a boutique anyway" Madam Quist spoke.

Feeling a bit excited that she had actually best her mother, Alice could hold a smile back no longer. She giggled and continued her work when a thought came to her; "why does Mother treat everyone so badly all the time? People who have done her no wrong, innocent minors and worst of all, young master Draco. He is only my step-brother but he is of course an equal".

Glancing around the yard she couldn't help but notice something unfamiliar in the surroundings. Across the mighty gate stood a cloaked image, from her stand she couldn't identify the image correctly but recognized it to be a manly figure. It stood tall, fairly moderate in size and appeared to show no sign of motion. "That's odd" Alice thought, "it's been over ten minutes he stood there and he has not moved nor even waved a hand. Very creepy". she murmured.

"Boo" shouted Draco from behind her. "Hahaha, I got you this time Alice?. Alice?. What's the matter, your mind seems to be far away from here". "I'm sorry Draco"; Alice replied. "It's just that I'm amused by the gentleman waiting outside, he doesn't seem to move or waver". "Look Draco, look"; Alice screamed.

As she spoke, small claps of thunder clattered and the clouds grew dark, in the heat of the moment the figure disappeared.

"See what Alice? No one's out there, I hope you aren't running mad so soon mate, hehehe" Draco whispered in her ear.

"Stop it, it's not funny Draco I actually saw something it was right there" Alice pointed towards the exit. "Besides you know how much I hate it when you call me mate, you do know that I'm a lady, don't you? Ladies aren't referred to as mates". Alice replied in a harsh tone. Storming out of the vineyard she started to walk her way back to the house. "Actually you are still a girl and not yet a lady." Draco muttered to himself. "Sorry? Did you say something?" Alice cried from a far, looking quite inquisitive. "No of course, I don't have anything to say to you" Draco answered. "Is that so, I'll be upstairs if you need me" Alice responded and walked up the stairs and into the house. "Wow, that was close, she really has good ears that one." Draco thought.
