Jennifer sees her reflection staring back at her as she starts the shower and waits for the water to warm. She is disappointed in herself for not being able to outsmart this bastard thus far. He just has too many connections and his threats to hurt Mark are just too much to risk. She couldn't bear the thought of Mark getting injured because of her. You may return home to your husband for the evening, but Jennifer, don't cross me again," he warns. "You won't like the outcome."
His words reverberate in her head as she drives home. She tries to remain calm and awaits Marks arrival from work. She has a coffee ready for him and tells him she has something she has to tell him. She sits on the counter and pulls him close as he sips his favorite brew. "Honey I have something to confess to you," she begins. Mark can hear in her quavering voice that the news she is about to deliver won't be good. "Before you say anything," he says,"know that I love you with all my heart and I could tell something was bothering you." She feels like the luckiest woman in the world at that moment and begins, "Remember that promotion I got at the bank and the raise I told you about? Well I got a big enough raise but the money came from..." Just then she is interrupted by a crash as the front bay window explodes inward and a man stands before Mark. Mark tries to pull his gun but two more men come in from either side of the kitchen. Mark is hit from all angles with punches and strikes and even though he put up a good fight, it's three against one. They take him down and beat him unconscious. Jennifer grabs a kitchen knife but is quickly back handed and knocked senseless onto her back.
