A I K O

"I'll be back for ya in two hours."

"Ok dad bye." I sighed, stepping out the truck.

The judge appointed Chris and I to twenty hours of community service since we've never been in trouble. I told everyone it was his weed but he denied it so the judge decided to be lenient. The funny thing about going to court was that Chris showed up with a black eye but tried to hide it with his hoody.

My mom had a fit so she should be back later tonight. She said her parents were coming back with her so I couldn't wait to meet my grandparents.

I walked in the empty elementary school to meet the person I would be reporting to for the next ten days. I signed in and waited while the other people arrived.

As usually black people are never on time for anything. After waiting almost ten minutes everyone came.
The director grouped us and of course I got stick with Christian.

We were planting trees around the school and I didn't understand why since it was still winter. I was freezing my ass off but it was a bit more sunny than usually so that was the only heat I was getting.

"Can you dig faster." Christian complained.

"Then you do it." I threw the shovel down and dusted my hands.

I wasn't going to hear him complain. If he didn't like how I was doing it then he could do it his way.

"Man can we call truths. This shit getting old and I'm sorry for putting that stuff in your bag."

"What?" I asked amused.

Did he really just apologize I thought to myself. I guess I could accept his apology. I sat down on the ground and crossed my legs.

He smacked his teeth. "You heard me."

"I guess I can accept your apology."

He nodded and continued planting the trees as I just stood to the side. I noticed his black eye was almost gone and wondered what happened. He felt me staring and i looked away.

"Your fucking dad or whoever he is did it." He mumbled.

My mouth fell to the floor as I tried to compose my laughter. But when did my dad have time to do that.

"I'm sorry." I told him

"No you not."

"Ok." I responded, knowing he was right.

"Why you act like a bitch all the time."

I gasp and pushed him. He got up and raised his hand but stopped once he realized I was a girl or who daughter he was dealing with.

"You lucky." He chuckled.

"Yeah, whatever."

"Man I thought we was through with this."

"Well don't call me a bitch."

"If the shoe fits wear it."

I crossed my arms. "Well I'm sorry but your an asshole."

"So I've been told." He shrugged as he finished the last tree.
