He was trying it again, the one thing he had been trying to talk her into for the past months. He couldn't understand why his girlfriend refused to go further than making out. After all she loved him right?
He was a tall boy with short blond hair, striking blue eyes, tanned skin and abs all the girls at his school were dreaming about. He was popular, wanted and a jock.
She was smaller with long dark curls framing her slightly pale face. Her green eyes looking always happy even though they were covered by giant glasses. She was his girlfriend for years and absolutely hated by the student body while the teachers loved her. His girlfriend was unpopular and a nerd but undeniable beautiful.
"Come on, hun. I know you want this too," he exclaimed while pointing at his body dramatically.
She took a few steps away from him, looking a bit scared. He wondered why she would look scared, did he do something to scare her? He doubted it, after all he was considering himself a very loyal and loving boyfriend.
"Hey, if I did something wrong you'd tell me right? Or ... do you ... not love me anymore?" he choked at the second part slightly. Of course she loved him, who didn't?
But still the question consumed every of his thoughts and unconsciously he too took a step back.
Now there were a couple of meters between the couple and both didn't look happy.
"I just want it to be right," she whispered softly.
He was shocked.
How could this not be right? They were in love. It hurt him that she thought it wasn't right to have sex with him.
"How could this possibly be wrong?" he asked and she stayed silent for a few moments.
The only thing you could hear was the sea and the waves crashing against the rocks that could be found on the coast. His feet sunk a bit deeper into the sand he was standing on.
"The sun is setting, you can hear the sea and the waves, we are alone, we love each other. What is wrong with wanting to make our relationship a little more serious?" he sighed running his hand through his short cut hair.
"You do love me, right?" he asked suddenly feeling sick.
This was it she did not love him anymore.
She didn't answer, seemingly she rung with herself for an answer but the hesitation said everything.
A few months ago she would state that she loved him all the time.
Every message she wrote ended with that sentence, each time in another language.
"What happened to "Ich liebe dich", "Ti amo", "Je t'aime" and "Ik hou van jou"?
She shrugged and I noticed tears forming in her green eyes, she had left her glasses at home, since we had wanted to go to a party.
I realized I would be going alone.
"I think it's over. It never really was about sex, I guess we both felt it wasn't working anymore. Maybe I just wanted to take that step so we would continue loving each other. I'm sorry it didn't work," he sighed and turned around.
Leaving her alone, crying silently.
