The next morning I wake up at 8:24 and attempt to tiptoe out of the room without my dad -who was sitting at the kitchen table- seeing me.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work and he instantly sees me and jumps up from his chair, blocking my way.

"And just where do you think you're going missy?"

I sigh.

"Am I not allowed to go out? I'm 15 for goodness sake!"

"Not if you're going to go in strange dates with strange men. You're 15 for goodness sake Taylor!"

I know. I just said that.

"Dad, I'm not going to do anything stupid."

My dads face softens.

"Taylor, I don't want anything bad to happen to you. This is a strange city and I'm worried about you, that's all. You're my only daughter!"

"And what if I wasn't?! What if Austin had actually been a girl instead of just acting like one?! Then would you let me go? If I wasn't your 'only' daughter?!"

My dad doesn't speak for a moment. Then he blinks and says quietly, "ok, Taylor, you can go." Then his face grows serious again. "

But be back by 12 or you won't be going out ever again!"

I grin and throw my arms around him.

"Thanks Dad!"

I walk out of the hotel room and skip down the staircase (which is actually really hard and quite dangerous), screaming "DONT TRY THIS AT HOME KIDS!"

Outside my logic kicks in and I stop and think about how I plan to find Adam. I check my watch. 8:38. Yesterday I saw him at about 9... Maybe I should wait until then.
I don't know what it is about him but for some reason I can't wait to see him again.
I settle down at a picnic table and start my favourite pastime - making up life stories for everybody who walks past.

"Ooooh that girl is an orphan and she lives in a horrible orphanage and that boy over there has really rich parents and he's got everything he could possible want and that lady with the dog is on the way to-"

"And that girl is waiting for a cute guy to show up so he can take her out."

I turn to see Adam with a teasing smile on his face.

"Wow, you have a pretty high opinion of yourself!" I say, laughing.

"Don't you think I'm cute?" He pouts.

I pause. Or course I do. But I can't say that to him, can I?

"Not as cute as me!"

I grab his arm and begin to drag him somewhere and then realise I have no idea where to go so I drop his arm awkwardly.

He grins.

"Where do you want to go Tay?"

"Um..." I spin around wildly, trying to see anything that we could do. When I stop spinning, my bag hits my leg and I remember the money Mum gave me to do stuff with in Scotland.

"Let's go shopping!"

Adam's grin disappears and is replaced with an expression of pure horror.

"Sh-shopping?"

"Yeah! It'll be fun, let's go!"

I grab his arm again and look around.

"Um... Which way do we go?"

"Taylor, we are NOT going shopping."

"Aww, why not?" I pout.

"Because I don't like shopping."
