-Demetri-

The wind was whipping past my face as I ran through the forest, the branches grazing my skin as the leaves tickled my face.

It's always such a magical feeling that still makes me feel so overwhelmed every time, even after 200 years. It's the feeling of happiness and freedom.

Freedom.

Sometimes I wondered how it would be like, to live a life free of this lust for blood. To live among humans peacefully without worrying about my cover being blown. To just be normal.

Even in my kingdom, I couldn't live normally. I was a pure, one with blue blood running through his system, even. I lived in the castle and was practically locked up there, because the Royal Guild was afraid that I would be slaughtered the second I stepped out—the Arch family had gathered many enemies and people out for our blood over the generations we've been in rule.

Hence the reason I still had a body guard that was keeping tabs on me around here.

"Ramon?" I asked as I knocked on the wooden door covered in vines. It was an old broken hut covered in leaves and branches, and I wondered why he chose to live here. It was old and rundown, and was very far away from civilization, but I guess that was one of the perks.

"Demetri!" Ramon pops out of the wooden door, a big grin on his face. He's shirtless and grinning up at me. He looks suspicious. He's not a morning person. "Good Morning!"

"Hey Ramon," I push myself inside and am surprised at the interior. It wasn't just the white, modern walls and the granite flooring as well as the artsy photos hung here and there, but the lady staring at me, with nothing but a blanket pooling around her.

"Ramon," I sighed as he scratched his head, pouting at me.

"Sorry, Demetri," He rolled his eyes before shooing the girl away. She giggled before disappearing. An air nymph, I supposed. "A guy needs to get laid from time to time. Even a vampire. Even more so a vampire." He stares at me. "I'm already finding it weird you haven't called up one of your side chicks."

I glared at him. "I've found her."

His face became serious and he stared at me. "Really?"

"Yeah," My face softened too, as a picture of her and a golden locks flashed in my mind.

"How's she like?"

"Perfect, really," I thought about her smile, and her lips and the way she would bite her lip when she was nervous. I chuckle lightly. She was so beautiful. "She's the perfect candidate to be a Queen. She's kind and loving and absolutely gorgeous."

"Sounds like a winner, really, but," Ramon's sitting on a counter biting into a red apple, with his chin propped up by his arm. "Are you really sure it's her? It could be one of the were-packs or the Guild of Witches or the Sirens of the East sea, or the Fairies of the Northern Woodlands, or the Magi League of the Archipelagos, or the Dawh-Ri Tribe—"

"I get it, I have a lot of people after me."

"Good that you know—you know how many people I have to take care of each day? You are a royal pain in the ass, literally. Anyway, one of your enemies might've just poof'ed up some magic and made you fall in love with a different girl to make sure you don't get a heir—a pure blooded and destined one, that is." Ramon states as he tossed the apple in the air before catching it.

"No, I'm pretty sure she's the one," I said confidently.

"That's what they all say," Ramon shrugged as he take a bite out of the apple. "But who am I to say anything. I'm just really happy here leading a single life."
