~Alec’s POV~
I drove home after my interview with ISU, apparently Cameron thought it was going to be some rich college for preppy people, when in reality it wasn’t full of preppy people, it was just rich. I can’t wait to go home and tell her that I got all four scholarships to make my entire four years free. This is a lot of free money being handed in my direction for my education. When I get home, Cameron is going to be the first person I tell. She’s going to be so excited. If I had gotten home yesterday, I probably would’ve been able to tell her while helping cook dinner and what not.
But for the unfortunate me, I got a free dinner and hotel to sleep in, and I was forced into eating and staying the night. I got fourteen calls from my mother, she was worried about me for some reason, and I got one call from Lawrence who had called me to tell me good luck and would talk to me later. I wonder what he does in the time where I am not there. I mean seriously, he’s a great guy, but he’s been acting suspicious around my house lately. And three nights ago when he was at our house, he forced me out of the kitchen just so he could cook with my sister.
“Wait a minute,” I glared at the empty road in thought, and suddenly, “he’s on to my sister!”
He knows she likes him I bet, and so he was just teasing her thoughts, making her think that he was into her. And when she finally confessed her love for him, he would laugh in her face and reject her aimlessly. Nah, he wouldn’t be rude about anything like that with her, because he knows how protective I am around her. She is my little loving sister after all. I laughed at myself for getting caught up in thought like that.
I looked around the road for any upcoming signs, I kept on scanning, “Ah-hah!” yelled squinting my eyes to see what it said, “Chicago, two miles.” I smiled, good, I’m almost home then.
I turned on the radio, Cameron’s favorite song, ‘(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party) By the Beastie Boys’, I laughed and turned it up. I sang along, because Cameron loved the song, I knew every single lyric.
“You gotta fight, for the right, to parrrrrrrtaay!” I quietly yelled in my car, I say some girls passing by laughing, I laughed too, but I didn’t really give a flying fuck what they thought.
I drove at the same speed until I got a block away from home; I sped up and stopped on the side of the road. I jumped out of the car, and when I got the door I unlocked it quietly and opened the door slowly. I looked in, my mother was lecturing my father about how useless Cameron is if she can’t even be good enough to do the dishes before she went to sleep.
“Hey mom, dad” I nodded at each when I said what I called them.
“Hello son,” my mother said smiling.
“Hey,” my father said taking this chance as to get up and run to his bedroom to go back to sleep.
“Go tell your stupid ass sister to come down and do the dishes, and if she doesn’t do them soon, she’ll get the leather belt to her skinny white ass.” My mother demanded.
“Yes ma,” I answered, running up the stairs and knocking on Cameron’s door.
She’s gotta be up by now, right? I twisted the knob, it stopped at a certain point, she’s playing ‘Real Life’, she’s not going to be up for a while I laughed.
“Mom, I’ll get the dishes in a little bit, Cameron is still sleeping!”
“FINE!” My mother was angry about what I had told her, I looked down the stair case and she was stomping to the case of liquor and opened it grabbing the Vodka.
