~Alec’s POV~

It was past two in the afternoon, and Cameron was still gaming, or sleeping even. I knocked on the door several times and she hasn’t answered yet. I tried one more time, no answer. I went to my room and climbed out the window. I walked to the next window, I heard loud music playing, specifically Blink 182’s First Date. I looked in; I saw her feet on the end of the bed, ‘so she’s lying down?’ I thought.

“Hey, Cameron? Are you awake?” I asked opening her window, unlocked as usual.

I climbed into the window, I was in my suit for my interview still, I just never got a chance to take it off. I looked at her as I climbed onto her desk and plopped onto the floor. She had the holographic projector headset on for ‘Real Life’, her bright orange hair tucked underneath it. There weren’t any lights on the side to signal she was on though. I shook her, no response. I bent over and looked at her face through the glass eye cover, her eyes, they were closed. She looked like she had fallen asleep before turning the damned thing on.

“Cameron?” I asked shaking her, she wasn’t waking up.

She mumbled something like, “Loki, I love you,” but I wasn’t quite sure if it was really what she had said under her breath.

“Are you awake?” I asked, I shook her again, she still didn’t response.

I started to get worried, I looked at the box for the game, it was forty dollars for the game, but one-hundred and forty-six for the holographic projector headset. This meant she either stole the money from father and mother, or she guilted one of her friends parents into buying her one too.

“Don’t worry little sis, I figure out what’s wrong with it.” I said reassuring her lifeless body.

I looked at the box again to see if there were any numbers to call if there were any problems. One, but it was to an office in Japan. I can’t speak Japanese, hopefully they speak English. I flipped my phone out of my pocket and dialed the number.

“For English please press one,” the operator said, continuing with different languages for different numbers.

I pressed one, “Hello, this is RocketFish Gaming Industries. My name is Yuki, how may I be of service?”

“Hello, my name is Alec Zedekiah. My younger sister, Cameron Zedekiah, is not waking up; the holographic project headset isn’t on though.”

“Is she sleeping sir?” Yuki the operator asked.

“No, she’s in the game, but she’s stuck some way.”

“Stuck in the game?” The operator held the phone away and laughed like I was joking, “Sir, do you know how ridiculous that sounds?”

I felt my jaw tighten, “Sir, do you know how much trouble you could be in if it’s true?” I laughed hysterically; I stopped abruptly and seriously said, “Whether it’s the police or me, you would be in jail once I found out where you lived you low life scumbag.”

“I’m not happy with threats sir,” Yuki giggled insanely, “plus, it’s not like you could figure it out anyway if you can’t even figure out to plug the headset in you moronic idiot.”

I looked around holding the phone away; I saw a small cord plugged into the wall and headset. The holographic projector headset, was already plugged in, I had a scowl on my face, “It’s already plugged in.”

“What?” The confused operator asked astonished.

“You’re company is a filth joint with plug-ins that burn out easily,” I said snapping the phone closed after.

I slumped into Cameron’s empty computer chair. She’s gone, she’s going to die, and she’s going to die from starvation from living on a game. I know it’s the company’s fault, but I feel like it’s mine, if I would have been here yesterday. I might’ve been able to save her life, and now she’s going to die, and it’s my fault for not being here for her.
