Finding the Courage

I finally let all of the tears drain out and looked in the rear view mirror to see a monster. Myself. I looked like death. I decided to clean myself up a little before I went inside.

I grabbed the keys off of the dashboard and opened the door, stepping out of the car. I popped the trunk and pulled out my purse, realizing I had no clothes with me.

I threw my purse back in the car and climbed into the driver seat, and started the car. I backed out and began to speed until I got to Sunset Blvd. I sped past my turn and pulled into a gas station.

I filled the tank with gas and then ran inside and bought a jumbo bag of gummy worms and an apple snapple. I opened the bag of gummy worms and drove all the way to Hayes' house, praying that nobody was home.

I drove up and only saw a few lights on. I pulled my key out of my purse and opened the front door. As I walked into the house a voice called out, "Hayes? Jordan?" It was his mom.

"No it's just me," I shouted.

"Where is Hayes?" She softened her voice when she noticed I was in the same room as her.

"I have no idea," I replied. " He got mad and so did I and ran away."

"Are you okay?" She comforted, I've had a good mother daughter relationship with her so I felt like I could talk to her. "Are you gonna be okay to stay here tonight?"

"I'm probably just gonna grab some clothes and head to a friend's house, if that's okay." I replied, knowing that I didn't need her permission.

"Um of course. Hayes just texted saying he went to a friends house too. I just figured you were with him and you guys came back home."

I didn't really say anything else, just went upstairs and threw as many clothes as possible into a bag and brought it all downstairs. I rushed to the car as if I had some sort of deadline. I just wanted to get out of there before Hayes found his way home. I got back in the car.

I suddenly realized where I was going.
