*Briella's POV*

I woke up the next morning feeling well-rested. Maybe a few extra hours of sleep had been just what I'd needed.

I got up and unplugged my phone from its charger. There were a few Wattpad notifications, and apparently I had a new follower on Instagram. I clicked open Wattpad to see if Cameron had texted. He hadn't.

But there was a message that caught my eye. It was from someone I didn't know, but I opened it anyway.

Hey, just wanted to let you know I really like your book The Neighbors. And all your books, it said.

Aw, how sweet! Before replying, I clicked on the person's profile pic so I could visit their profile.

It was @NickAtNight, that guy who kept voting and commenting on my book. He had one story published, called The Lonely Boy. I clicked on it and read the intro. Apparently it was about this guy who lost his mother and he feels like his dad doesn't care about him. Whoa. Sounds good. I quickly added it to my library.

His bio said that he liked horror movies and reading. It also said that he was fifteen and you could "feel free" to message him. I clicked the Follow button, wondering why I'd never followed him back before now. Maybe I'd only skimmed over the notification if he'd followed me earlier.

I looked at the clock and realized that it was almost time for school. I had to get going! I turned off my phone and hurried over to the closet to pick out some clothes.

There was no time to get dressed up. So I threw on a plain black T-shirt and sweatpants, with Ugg boots. Then I put my hair in a messy bun and rushed downstairs to eat breakfast.

It was the first time in a few weeks I hadn't worn my Converse. It felt weird, but they didn't really go well with sweatpants. At least I looked okay.

"Want some eggs?" Mom, who was standing at the kitchen stove, asked.

"Yes, please!" I replied, and got a plate out of the cabinet. Mom spooned me out some scrambled eggs, and I sprinkled a bit of pepper on them. Then I dug in.

Almost immediately, I spit them back up. The eggs were disgusting! Totally bland, and dry. "You know what? I'm just gonna get a Cliff bar," I told Mom.

"Are you sure, honey?"

"Yeah. I don't really like eggs that much anyway." I dug around in the pantry for a protein bar, but couldn't find one. "Ashton, where are the Cliff bars?!" I yelled.

He came bounding down the stairs, calling, "I ate the last one!"

"Ughhh," I groaned, throwing my head back dramatically. "Thanks a lot."

"You're welcome, princess," he said, all smug.

"Don't call me that!" I got an apple from the fridge instead, and grabbed my backpack off the counter. Then it was time to leave.

Ashton and I drove over to pick up the Cox's. We were a little late, but only by a few minutes. Still, Taylor was freaking out on us. "Where were you?!" she yelled.

"Sorry, it was a rough morning," I replied.

"What did you do?" she said to Ashton, crossing her arms.

"Nothing," he said, while I replied, "He ate the last Cliff bar."

"Ugh, rude."

"I know, right?"

"Guys, it was just one Cliff bar! Get over it," Ashton yelled.

Sighing, I turned my face towards the window. Sometimes it was really hard to deal with a seventeen-year-old Cliff-bar-stealing older brother.

*Nick's POV*

When I checked my phone that morning, I saw that @b_2000 still hadn't messaged me back. But she had followed me. That probably meant she had at least seen the text. I wished she had answered, but I didn't want to let it get to me. She was probably just busy.

After getting dressed, I slung my backpack over my shoulder and started walking to school. I wasn't hungry, so I didn't eat breakfast or anything.

Time for a good old-fashioned Tuesday morning.
