Chapter One

(Eren POV)

"Little boy, are you lost?" The male in the coat asked a young looking child. The little brunette looked up to the male with a cross around his neck and smiled.

"No, I'm just looking for the dark. My mommy said to find it." The little boy pointed towards the upcoming moon, which was illuminate from the sun.

As the sun kept going down, the priest got onto a knee, to the young boy's height. "Where's your mother? What's your name?" He asked the young.

"My mommy is in the sky's now. She told me to find you and take you to dark!" The boy gleamed, smiling brightly.

The priest being cautious picked up the boy, carrying him to the church. "What's your name?" The brunette asked again.

"My name is Carter." The young boy was looking behind the older male, his cheek on the priests shoulder as he walked down the streets.

"Nice to meet you Carter, I'm priest Eren." The priest, Eren, said softly to him, humming now.

"Carter, why does your mother want me to go into the dark?" He asked the little boy.

Eren knew after the question that the young small boy was probably tired. He started to mutter words, "M-Mmy, sa-e th-em." Before saying a whole sentence it was just jibberish and mutters. "Meet in the caves at Dawn.."

The older male couldn't -and didn't- believe what he had heard. This young boy, firstly talking jibberish, then saying a full sentence perfectly fine..?!

Eren continued down the street, till he came to the church. The place was quite large, having coloured glass windows of a variety of colours. The walls on the outside was a beige, the roof made of bricks and stones.

He walked into the large building. Through two oak, double doors.

"Eren!" A close friend of his exclaimed, "Who's this?" The blonde asked, obviously curious about the young child.

"This is carter. He was saying that his mother wanted him to bring me to the dark, then started to mumble words. He said something along the lines of 'Meet in the caves at Dawn.'." Eren copied what the child had said. The priest walked down the isle, going to where the churchmen spoke.

He toke off his white and black jacket, placing and curling it up so it was like a cushion. He placed the small boy onto it and looked backed to his adoptive sister and friend.

He didn't think there was some kind of meaning to it, till the blonde spoke up. "Where are his parents, siblings?" He asked.

"The boy told me his mother deceased and moved on. I didn't ask him other." The brunette replied bluntly.

"So if his mother was talking to him, that means it's a sign, or warning. Maybe he wants you to be the one to bring him down to the caves? Then again, no one really goes down there. And if anyone did, they never returned.." Armin, the blonde, went on rambling some nonsense for a conclusion.

The chairs in the church were all symmetrical, facing the front. The floor was a distinct cheep fabric, and the walls -much like the outside- were a light beige colour.

Eren began walking to one of the close doors, where some of the church members slept. If they didn't have a home, they would practically live there, if needed.

He opened the doors when Armin shouted out. "No one knows the reason why anyone who went down, never came back. What if it's a sign, that you-" he pointed to the brunette who was just about to walk into the room "-and the young boy, are to find out? I mean, yes it's only an assumption. But it's the only concluding one." The blonde male sat down beside the boy, looking at him. "He looks like you, Eren."

"No, now I'm gunna be going to sleep.. It is dusk, and we all know what happens at this time." He insisted, walking in and closing the door behind him.

What if what Armin said was true? If he and this child had to go down and find out why people didn't return.
He didn't like this uneasy feeling, but found some calmness. As if it had been his parents telling him he was ok.

Sighing and taking his necklace off, he had then noticed the bottom of the cross was shaped as a key. Wondering and questioning himself.

Should he, or should he not..?
