"Hey baby, I'm leaving you this voicemail to tell you good luck on the match tonight. The kids are staying up late to watch you. We are so proud and we love you... see you when you come home. Be safe.", I always left Elijah a good luck voicemail before every match. This one was huge though, if he wins he gets 4 million dollars, if he loses he only gets 2 million. It isn't about the money though. If Elijah loses he is not going to a happy person when he comes home.
It was time for the big match and everyone was at the house watching for the match. I had been being the hostess all night but I needed to sit down and watch my baby. The bell rung and the 1 round started. Everyone was talking and cheering, but I sat silent because if he didn't when this match, I was going to be his punching bag tonight. He always found a way to make it my fault.
It was the last round and Elijah needed to win this round in order to win the game. It could really go either way at this point. Elijah had a huge gash above his right eye, and I know it was effecting his vision. He started wobbling and when his opponent hit him, he fell to the ground. He tried getting up but it wasn't working. Suddenly my house got quiet. Everyone seemed to be looking at me. I soon realized that I was shaking. I snapped out of it and tried to laugh it off. I looked around to see if I could find a way to take my mind of the match for 5 seconds. I realized my children fell asleep on the couch, I shook them awake and told them to go into their rooms. They did as they were told and once I heard each of their doors close, I turned my attention back to the match.
I was too late. Elijah lost the match, and the game was over. People started leaving and thanking me for inviting them to the house. My best friend Danielle stayed and helped me clean up the mess and put the food away. Once we were finished, we sat in the dining room and had a glass of wine. Well, we only had one glass, I finished the bottle. I knew I was going to need it. Danielle knows what happens when Elijah loses a match. "Are you going to be okay girl?", she said as she finished her last sip of the wine. "Yeah Dani... I will be fine. He should be home soon though so maybe you should get going.", I said as my eyes became glazed with tears.
I decided to take a shower and get my pajamas. After about 30 minutes of showering, I got out and put on my favorite lotion from Victoria's Secret. I decided on wearing some pink spandex and one of Elijah's T-Shirts. I listened to some jazz and read a book until I dozed off. I woke up to the sound of the front door closing. I closed my eyes and pretended to be sleep, so maybe he wouldn't bother me. I was sadly mistaken. "Sky wake up!", he yelled as he flipped the covers off of me. "Hey baby... I missed you.", I said trying to sound cheerful. I like didn't know he just lost the biggest fight of his career. "So we don't answer phones no more?", he said as he walked around the bed to where I was. He started reaching towards me but then he grabbed my phone. "50 missed calls Skylar! Have you had some nigga over here? He is the reason you can;t answer my phone calls no more? HUH? Answer me!!", he said as his face turned red. "N-N-Noo... there is no one else Elijah! You know I only love you!", I screamed with tears streaming down my face. I could smell the Hennessy on his breath....
This was going to be a long night.
