Joey’s POV-
I watched her till she was out of sight inside the building. Sighing to myself I tried to control my heart rate. Why did she always make me do rash things that just ended with me frazzled? I didn’t know where to go for the next hour or so, instead I opted to driving around till I found a Starbucks.
Ordering my usual and a chocolate chip muffin, I went and found a table near a window so I would be able to sit in the sun. I was still confused about Julia. Did she like me more than just a friend? Was I just reading the signs wrong?
Groaning quietly I put my head in my hands. If I kept going on like this I was going to give myself a headache. Pulling out my phone I set it on the table so I would see as soon as Julia texted me. Not five minutes later, my phone started vibrating. Scrambling to pick it up I opened the text.
Julia- Ready 2 b picked up. How soon can u b here?
I thought for a second before opening a reply text.
Joey- Give me 10. I’ll have a treat 4 u when I get there. ;)
Picking up my phone and sliding it in my pocket I went back up to the counter and ordered another chocolate chip muffin along with a hot chocolate for Julia. My head was really starting to hurt as I walked out to the car but I was determined to look okay for Julia because me getting sick wasn’t going to look attractive and I knew she was already stressed about this audition.
Driving as carefully as possible I made it to the large building, I still didn’t know the name of, in one piece. Putting on a pretty convincing smile, I watched as Julia rushed out the double glass doors. I leaned over to her door and pushed it open slightly. She gave me an anxious smile before sliding in beside me and taking a deep breath. Giving a breathy laugh, I turned my attention back to driving, trying to ignore the pounding in the back of my skull.
“How did it go?” I asked as Julia further composed herself.
“I-I’m not sure. I’m just really nervous about it.” She stuttered as I turned a sharp corner.
“Well, I brought u something.” I said, smiling and pointing towards the muffin and hot chocolate. I glanced away from the road for a second, soon enough to see her eyes light up and a smile cross her face.
Julia’s POV-
I smiled when I saw the food. By now I was getting really hungry and this was just perfect.
Joey is perfect. I thought but shook off the thought. I couldn’t think like that. I was getting my hopes up for something that was never gonna happen.
Leaning over I planted a small kiss on Joey’s cheek before grabbing my muffin and ripping off a hunk of it. A blush had started creeping up my neck from what I had just done and I tried my best to hide it. Moving my hair in front of my face more, I took a sip of my hot chocolate.
“Um. Do you wanna head home or is there somewhere you need to…um…stop at beforehand?” He asked, stuttering slightly. He seemed really nervous and antsy.
Did I do that? Is he flustered because of me? Because I kissed him? I shook my head, mentally throwing the thought away. No, he must just be hot. The LA heat was getting worse as we got closer to noon.
“We can just head home. I need to finish the song for my next video soon. My viewers are getting annoyed that I haven’t posted for a while.” I pointed out as we pulled into the driveway, Joey turned to me. Pausing, I gave him a weird look. It seemed like he had something to say.
“Would you…” he paused as he thought about something,” mind helping me with grocery shopping today?” he asked. I couldn’t help but think that’s not what he had wanted to ask.
“Yeah; sure. Are you okay?” I asked. He didn’t look like he was feeling too good. Taking his arm I led him inside and to his room. Helping him lay down I pulled the covers up to his chin.
“I think I might be sick. I’m okay here though. You can go ahead and leave if you want.” He groaned, snuggling into his blankets and curling into a ball.
Running from his room to mine, I pulled out my guitar and laptop and set them down so I could quickly change into comfortable sweatpants and t-shirt. I picked up a blanket, my laptop, and my guitar and rushed back to Joey’s room. Sitting on his bed next to him I opened up my computer to the word document with my cords for the new song I was writing on it. Scrolling to the chorus, I took the pick I had stuck in my mouth, out and started to play the slow melody. Humming along, I felt Joey snuggle up to me. My heart beat got a little faster but I continued to play like I was unfazed by the contact.
I stopped playing when I heard Joey’s breathing even out and slight snores begin as he fell deeper into sleep next to me. Putting my guitar on the floor next to me and closing my laptop, I snuggled down next to Joey so we were facing each other. Before I knew it I was curled up next to him and fast asleep.
Joey’s POV-
My eyes fluttered open slightly and I groaned from the aches and pains of being sick over took my body again. There was afternoon light streaming in through my windows and illuminating everything in a breath taking glow. Getting up quickly, I ran to my bathroom and managed to get to the toilet just before my breakfast decided to say hello again.
Flushing it down, I groaned again as I slumped against the wall on the cold tile. I heard footsteps run toward the bathroom and then a slightly frantic knock on the door. I was kinda surprised I had managed to close the door in my rush to get to the bathroom.
“Joey? Are you alright in there? I brought you some sprite if you want it.” Julia said from the other side of the door.
“Um…you can come in Jules.” I mumbled. I heard the door click open but I had shut my eyes, leaning my head against the wall. Jules padded over to me, bare feet smacking on the tile, before sitting next to me with a sigh. She looked slightly flustered but I shook off the feeling that something wasn’t right.
“Here,” she handed me a tall glass of sprite, “drink this. It’ll take the taste out of your mouth.” I nodded and took a grateful sip. I wanted to gulp it all down but I didn’t quite trust my stomach yet.
“Thanks Julies. I don’t know why I’m so sick all of the sudden.” I mumbled again as I let my head drift to her shoulder. My stomach was still churning and my head hurt like none other but I was glad Julia was here to take care of me.
“Just take deep breathes and calm down.” She cooed in my ear. Sinking into her soft reassurences I could feel myself drifting of. Being sick always made me exhausted.
“Jules?”
“Yeah?” She asked softly. Her one arm was now around my shoulders, holding me even more tightly to her.
“I love you.” I whispered before drifting off again.
