The Rockbells
"Kira!" a young boy called eagerly, head moving from side-to-side, as if looking for something. The boy had black hair that ended at his shoulders, held in a low ponytail. He was quite tall for his age. He was no older than six, but looked to be at least nine years of age. He wore a light yellow, almost white shirt. Along with this, he wore loose gray pants and black flats.
"Kira!" He called again, looking around frantically. Well, not actually looking, for his eyes were shifty, appearing to be closed.
"Where is she?" he thought aloud, a frown adorning his face.
"Where is who, Ling?" a feminine voice asked from behind him. The boy, Ling, turned around to see a young girl that was his age. She had chestnut-brown hair that was slightly longer than his. She had teal eyes and wore a cerulean dress that reached her knees. Black pants were barely visible from under her dress. Black flats, very similar to his, were on her feet. Ling looked at her, a wide grin spreading across his face.
"There you are! I've been looking all over for you. Where have you been?" Ling asked, pulling Kira into a tight hug, who in turn wrapped her arms around him loosely.
"I was training with Lan-Fan." Ling frowned at her straightforward answer. He sighed.
"At least you didn't call me Prince."
"Which you are. What did you need me for, anyway?" Kira asked, pulling away from him.
"Nothing!" Ling chirped. "Just wanted to see you." Kira sweat-dropped.
"Ling, I could be training right now."
"Aww, Kira you're no fun! You need to loosen up a bit." Ling grabbed her arm.
"Come on, Kira, play with me." Kira sighed.
"Ling..." she trailed off. Ling crossed his arms and pouted. He was a bit frustrated. Kira was the only person outside the royal family to deny him something, and this was her way of doing that.
"Please? Please? Pretty please?" Ling begged, the pout still existent on his face.
"Ling, I-"
"Pleeeeeeeeease?" he begged again, this time on his knees while hugging her waist. Kira looked down at him, a smile threatening to come across her features.
"Alright, fine. Only for a little while." Kira said, lightly patting Ling's head. Ling jumped up with a huge, self-satisfied grin.
"What do you want to play?" Kira asked, shaking her head as a small smile took its place on her face. Ling stood with his hand on his chin for a moment.
"Hmm... I don't know. Why don't you pick?" Ling replied cheerily.
"Ling?"
"Yes?"
"That's your job."
Ling laughed, happy to hear her say something that she normally wouldn't.
"Alright, then. Tell me about... your childhood!" Ling exclaimed. Kira blinked and just stared at him. Then, she laughed a bit.
"Ling, I'm living my childhood, at the moment. Along with that, we've known each other since we were born and you always find a way to see me. You know all about my childhood."
It was true. The two have known each other since Kira was in the womb (him being older than her by a few months). The two were almost never seen without the other.
Many people found it strange that they get along so well, due to their contrasting personalities. The two knew about this, of course, but it didn't bother them in the slightest. They had each other, and only the other knew different sides to their friend that many people didn't. It was no mistake to see them as best friends.
