Brothers

Edward and Alphonse looked somewhat confused.

"Don't you have a last name?" Alphonse asked, taking a small step toward her. Kira shook her head slightly.

"Not that I can remember." Edward stood closer to her, keeping his brother behind him.

"Kira, right?" A nod. "That sounds foreign. Are you from here?" Before Kira could answer, a soft, feminine voice came from the door.

"Edward, Alphonse, what are you doing here at this hour?" Kira removed her gaze from the boys to look at the person at the door. There she saw a woman with chestnut brown hair and blue-green eyes. She wore a pale purple nightgown that reached a few inches under her knees. She, too, appeared to have been asleep. Kira guessed that she was the mother. Edward and Alphonse spun around.

"Sorry, Mom. We heard her moving in here." Edward explained, looking extremely sheepish. Alphonse nodded, his expression matching Edward's. The woman wore a look of surprise as she turned her head to Kira.

"Were you? You're still injured." she said, concern evident in voice. Kira's eyebrows furrowed.

"I am?" Kira shifted her weight on her place in the bed. She took an intake of breath as pain shot through her legs and back. The boys' mother smiled softly.

"Yes, you are." she said, coming to stand next to the bed. Kira moved slightly to give her room to sit on the bed. "Care to explain why you were moving?" She asked, sitting down.

"I was looking for something. Did you find me with a bag?" Kira asked.

"Yes, I'll get it for you if you want.", the chestnut-haired woman offered, moving to stand.

*Growl* Kira blushed and held her stomach, refusing to remove her gaze from the ground. The others began to laugh.

"Food?" Edward laughed.

"Yes, please." Kira squeaked, her gaze burning holes into the ground and her blush still very noticeable on her face. The laughing fit subsided after a minute and Edward left the room, his mother following. Kira began to step off the bed to follow them, the red beginning to leave her face. The instant she shifted her weight to her feet, a wave of pain washed over her. She staggered and fell back onto the side of the bed.

"Are you alright?" Alphonse asked worriedly while coming to stand on her right. Kira gritted her teeth.

"Yes. Besides, I've had wounds much worse than this." She stood up completely.

*Growl*

"Can we get the food, now?" Kira blushed again. Alphonse nodded, laughing. Kira's eyes were glued to the ground, but looked up when she felt a small, warm hand close around her own.

"Let's go, okay?" Alphonse laughed. Kira smiled at him and nodded, allowing him to guide her to the kitchen, his hand never leaving hers.

"Sit here." Alphonse said as they reached the table, pulling her chair out for her. Kira giggled.

"Thank you." Alphonse went to sit in the chair to the left of her. Kira used her legs to push the chair out from under the table. Alphonse just laughed as he sat down. Black entered Kira's vision.

"This was your bag, right?" Ms. Elric asked from behind Kira, holding the bag. Kira nodded, taking the worn-out, black, bag from her.

"Yes. Thank you."

"What do you have in there?" Edward asked, taking a seat on Kira's right.

"Hmm." Kira looked up from her bag. "Here, I'll show you." Kira gently laid out multiple kunai knives, a small dagger, various forms of bombs, an empty, medium sized jug, and a spare set of clothes on the table. The family's eyes widened at what they saw.
