"i think we did a good job." lennon announced.
the two of them were outside sitting in their claimed chairs at the table just finishing dinner which consisted of grilled cheese. they were admiring their paint job of the one side of the garage lennon's shirt and shorts were also painted from harry chasing after her, and harry's from lennon defending herself.
the side of the garage did look nice, at least in lennon's opinion, but they had three other sides to go with hopefully no more paint fights.
"yeah? i think so too." harry agreed eating the last of his grilled cheese sandwich.
lennon let out a sigh of content and leaned back in her chair gazing up at the sky which was a beautiful orange. this moment right now was just, just perfect for lennon. here she was sitting with harry having just spent the day painting with him, and now was admiring their work just finished with their grilled cheese.
lennon loved this. she loved spending time with harry even though they met two weeks ago, she loved it. she loved being more independent and doing things she hasn't done before. she loved having a friend. she loved it.
"lennon." harry said snapping lennon back from her thoughts.
"what?" she asked looking at him.
"it's time to get you home." harry sighed as if he didn't want her to go home. which made lennon's heart melt a little at the thought.
lennon let out a sigh like harry's and stood up from the chair. this was the worst part though. leaving everyday and going home, but at least her father was basically non existant.
in the car on the way there they both sang to radio and snuck glances at each other. lennon let her hand fly out the rolled down window liking the way it felt. when she glanced at harry he always had one hand on the steering wheel the other on resting on his knee. his eyes were usually focused on the road but lately she caught him staring at her, which always made her blush.
even though she shouldn't because they were friends.
what felt like too soon harry pulled up the their spot where he would always pick her up and drop her off her bike not getting as much use anymore. lennon reluctantly got out of the jeep waved to harry even though she knew he wouldn't leave until she was in the house. safe and sound.
as lennon walked towards the house she saw that her father's was in the driveway which was a surprise. now worried that she was going to be late she glanced at were watch to see she had ten minutes to seven. plenty of time.
she made it in the house at six fifty seven and was greeted by a different smell. they were having something different for dinner tonight! this seemed weird to lennon as she wondered inside kicking off her converse.
she could hear her mother and father conversing in normal tones, this was so off to lennon. she peered around the corner to see her father and mother at the table on the patio with small smiles on her faces.
lennon shuddered.
she opened the sliding glass door to the patio neither of her parents noticing her. she took slow unsure steps to the table knowing her presence was required since her father was here. when she sat down her father noticed.
he smiled(?) at her making lennon squirm.
"how was your day father?" lennon questioned not interested but she knew needed to at least pretend to.
"it was good lennon." her father stated a unusual lightness in his tone.
"your father is in the works with a deal with a very important man. isn't this exciting?" her mother rambled lively. lennon nodded adding a fake smile not really caring all about this.
