I slowly wake up to the sun shinning through the crack in the curtains. I slowly rise. This will be the first time I have woken up alone, since the arrangement of mine and Tobias' wedding. I walk the bathroom, and clean up.(you know how to use the things in the bathroom) after I finish I walk out. I'm taken back to see my room full of women. "Ah, my queen come sit. Your mother arranged us to do your makeup and hair." Rebecca says smiling. I smile and nod once. I sit on the chair she has pulled out for me.
I watch as the makeup brushes dance around my face.
"Are you ready" Rebecca says. I nod and I turn. I gasp. The girl in the mirror looks nothing like me. I raise my hand and touch my face. I gasp again. This girl. This girl in the mirror isn't me, it just can't be. My blonde hair is in perfect curls flowing down my back. The top in a very loose French braid, stopping half way. Beautiful white flowers litter the sides. My makeup was done with careful hands. I have a natural Smokey eye with dark dramatic red lips. My face was contoured, and highlighted. My small frame was covered in a lace gown. It was tight at the bust, and flows out from my waist. I hear a small knock at my door. "Come in." I call. I turn to see my mother, and her sister's daughter, Ash. They gasp. I take a look at Ash and roll my eyes. "You shortened your dress." I stress. "Hey, you got me to wear this awkward color. You aren't making it even girlier." She growls. I roll my eyes again, and huff. "Okay. Your right. I'm just nervous. And I want everything to turn out right." I say. "Its fine. Come on. Its time. Uncle Andrew is down stairs waiting." She says. I nod and grab her hand.
We walk down the hallway until I see my dad's tall frame. I smile. "Daddy" I say catching his attention. He turns and looks at me, with tears in his eyes. "My baby girl. She's getting married." He says pulling me into a hug. I chuckle. "Alright Andrew let her down." My mom scolds. Now we wait. All our maids, and groomsmen. Line up in their spots. As the music plays they walk down the isle.
Now it's my turn. I hook arms with my dad and look up. The doors open and there I see him. My soon to be husband, my other half. He is clad in black dress pants, a white button up, a grey vest with a black blazer, to complete the look he has a charcoal grey neck tie. His hair is slightly tossled, the small curls standing out. He is wearing a cheesy smile. We stop at the end. My dad kisses my cheek and gives me away. I grab his outstretched hand. "You look beautiful" he whispers "thanks you." I murmer. He smiles and gives a slight nod.
"We gather today for the ceremony of the birth of a future love. Please repeat after me." The man speaks while glancing towards Tobias.I know this was an arranged marriage. Though I can't help but think how drastic my life is going to change for the better. You know, I feel like falling in love is like falling asleep. Slowly then all at once.
As it was time to swap rings, we stared into each other's eyes and slip the rings on one at a time. "Tobias, you may now kiss your queen." The preacher said. And he did. He kissed me like it was our last.
