Chapter 7
Her eyes burned holes into mine. I liked their color just not the feel of them. Almost as if she were studying a science project. I winced at the thought, remembering what I told Neclousen when we first met. I guess this was karma turning out to be the exact same thing as him. Though it wasn't all bad.
She stayed studying for a while not moving. In those moments I pondered on why Neclousen and Kima would even let her within ten feet of me after what she did. I'm not even sure what she did do. All I know is it caused the woman, Shadow, to take over my actions. They might have thought she learned her lesson, but from the look she was giving me; she wanted more. I decided to be the fat penguin and break the ice.
"Um...hi." I said cautious of her every movement, even though there was none. She stayed quiet still studying as if she were trying to solve a puzzle. I decided to push forward a little bit to get a word from her. Any word was fine at this point. "Was there something you needed?" I doubted it though.
More silence, more staring; but soon she let out a "hm". I decided then that she wasn't going to answer. In replacement of trying to make light of this somewhat-dangerous situation, I studied her as well. "If you can't beat them, join them," they say. I noticed Shadow left more than scratches, and left her clothes ripped to shreds as well. But they were fading as I studied them. I'd heard from Ellie about how witches live and die, but I never believed wounds could heal so fast. I felt less guilty for letting Shadow get to her now. Even though she was the idiot who summoned her. Though I didn't exactly know why she claimed I was the champion of this world. It almost sounded too good to be true that I could be truly important and useful to these people.
Feeling my throat go dry, I got up and headed toward the bathroom to the right of Myra and stood in front of the sink. I looked to see if she followed, but she still sat in the chair with her chin in her hands that rested on her knees. I turned backed to the sink and sighed. She was extremely odd. Once I let water into my cupped hands I pulled them up to my mouth, but it never made it in; because it suddenly floated away and out the bathroom door. I looked outside to see where it was going, but to my astonishment the water was nowhere to be seen.
Instead, I found Myra had a new object; an ice cube. She wasn't just letting melt in her hand; she was eating it. I processed a moment and realized she'd stolen my water out of my hands. But even after I processed I couldn't help but give her a mix between a weirded-out face and a confused face. She stared blankly back while still munching on the ice-cube.
"Did you just...steal the water out of my hands?" It was a stupid question that I knew the answer to but I needed a clear answer to remind myself I was correct. She stopped munching and put on a sarcastic shocked face. "Oh my, you should become a detective." I gave her a glare.
"Why?" I was actually curious about her reason.
She shrugged, "I was hungry."
Before I could ask her why she didn't just go to kitchen and make something (though I'm certain it's because she's lazy), she got up and stretched while yawning and then left the room, leaving me dumbfounded by her oddity.
I turned to the mirror and sighed, exasperated. This world was strange. It's filled with the many fantasies I believed to be my imagination, but in reality I was seeing another world that existed without anyone knowing anything about it. Not that I know much more about it now than I did back then. Though the things I've heard and seen should make it clear that this wasn't a dream, I still couldn't fully believe it. Neither would Ria....though she would mostly be amazed just standing in this world.
She always said she wanted to work with N.A.S.A, and even had a telescope attached the roof. The way she looked through that telescope and at the planets showed me just how much she loved the beauty of the universe. I could only imagine her looking at the nature of this world with amazement burning in her eyes. She would love it here. She would even be astonished about the people here along with the creatures. Ria always lived in her world of mystical places and people, but that's what made her such an amazing person. Never did she treat anyone unfairly. Not even me. So much life in one person....I held back any tears that might have escaped. God I missed her.
