Chapter 3

My eyes opened slowly as awoke from my somehow better-than-any-night sleep. Maybe it was because he stayed until I fell asleep. Once I felt I was awake, I stood up slowly attempting not to get a head rush.  The sun was a bit brighter and cold chill had been erased. It felt as though everything was better just because I was with him last night. Speaking of which, I remember promising to listen to his psychotic story.

When I walked back inside I saw Ria sitting at the table drinking coffee. She didn’t seem mad that I snuck out last night, but maybe she didn’t notice. In that case she’s a bad babysitter. Not that I need a babysitter. She looked more depressed than anything.

“Hey. You ok?” I asked wondering why she looked down.

“Promise me you won’t ever leave me.”

“What are you talking about Ria?” I said while sitting down in front of her.

“Well I know it was your eighteenth birthday yesterday, but that doesn’t mean you have to leave automatically. At least let me have a little more time to accept the fact that you’re moving on.” She said sounding just like a mother depressed about her daughter leaving for college.

“Ria, I won’t be leaving for a while. I still have to find the money to buy my ticket and passport--” I covered my mouth after I realized what I let slip.

“How far are you moving?” She exclaimed flailing her arms.

I sighed, “I was only planning on moving to Britain.”

“Britain? Why? Just answer one of my questions with a reasonable answer!”

“Ria you have to understand that I’ve always wanted to travel around the world,” She rolled her eyes and tried to walk away before I got her attention again, “and I know you want to stay and live in a tiny little apartment with your best friend, but I can’t do that knowing there’s so much more to see.” I grabbed her hands once more. “I’m not leaving for a while now, so don’t worry.”

She looked at me and looked away with disappointment. Leaving me feeling guilty for wanting to discover more, she got up and left to table. I know that she’s going to leave me to tell my sisters. I found her ideas of revenge very cruel.

I sat at the table wondering how exactly I was supposed to meet with him again to listen to his “story”. I’m quite vague when it comes to details about important times. Remembering that he always seemed to follow me, I decided the best way of finding him was to walk around town. I got up and got dressed for my day out. Just the casual stuff though; it’s not like this is a date.

Leaving a note for Ria seemed like a bright idea since I don’t want her thinking I left sooner than expected. When I walked out the door I almost froze solid. It had to be below zero. But how? It was like spring last night. Damn Texas weather.

After walking for a while I found myself at the spot where I met Neclousen. The car I had kicked him in was surprisingly still there; along with the giant dent I had put in it. Looking closer I found bullet-like holes in several spots within the sent. I don’t remember shooting him or anything.

As I turned around I found myself feeling a strange presence. It was like a bad vibe telling me to run or something bad will happen. I normally don’t listen to them though since nothing really ever happens. Once again turning around I found myself frozen in place; in front of me stood a giant beast-like shadow with red gleaming eyes. It’s shape took the form of a bear, but it had horns and looked way more ferocious.
