Many years had already passed since the accident. Elsa is now the head of my family, what with her parents, Queen Idun and King Adgar, were lost at sea. She still misses them dearly, but they never knew how or why the ship sank.
It hurts so much..
It hurts even worse now that her sister and she have grown so far apart. It was Elsa's decision, her and her parents'. They had to protect Anna from her. And the only way to do that was to neglect her, no matter how much it hurt.
Elsa sits in her room, alone, weeping silently. Frost covers the whole bedroom, from the newly-painted ceiling to the bed itself. Elsa gasps as she hears a knock on the door. Anna. She has knocked on her sister's door almost every day since the incident. The worst part about this whole situation is she doesn't know why Elsa is doing this to her. Shutting her out. It is to protect her from the growing fear in her heart...she can't control her powers. She can't risk losing her sister again.
It seems I never will control them, she thinks to herself.
"Elsa?" Anna's voice rings out in an echo around the room and beyond. She sounds so broken. Maybe I should-no. Conceal, don't feel. Conceal, don't feel.
"Elsa, please, I know you're in there. People are asking where you've been. They say have courage, and I'm trying to; I'm here for you, just let me in." She hears her sobbing on the other side of the door. Anna, I'm so sorry...
"We only have each other, it's just you and me. What are we gonna do? Do you wanna build a snowman?" That is the last thing Elsa hears her sister say, though she can still see her shadow on the other side of the door. The door that separates us; the door on our hearts that can never bind us.
Because of Elsa.
•Two weeks later•
It was almost Christmastime. The palace would be celebrating and throwing a Winter Ball right about now. Guards would be polishing their shoes and pressing their uniforms, mounds upon mounds of chocolate being imported from France-mmm, they have the BEST chocolate-maids cleaning the Ball Room, decorating the entire palace.
That hasn't happened in years, thanks to me."Hello, Princess Elsa. Are you ready for your lesson in mythology today?" The head maid, Gerda, says as she comes in. Gerda has grown up in the palace for as long as Elsa can remember. While she wasn't an advisor, Gerda was entrusted by King Agnarr to do Elsa and Anna's education. However, these days she was more focused on Elsa's education.
"Hello." Elsa bows her head to acknowledge Gerda. "What are we learning?"
"Have you ever heard of the story of the Guardians?" Elsa shakes her head.
"Well, I'm going to tell you about them. They are sometimes known as 'The Big Four.' They-"
"I'm sorry, but what does this have to do with mythology?"
She laughs. "Why, they're just a myth is all. And since it's Christmas, why not tell you about them?"
"I thought it was a legend. A lesson that rings with truth."
((A/N: Get my Merida quote? XD))
"My dear, you are very wise, an intelligent heir and future Queen of Arendelle. But you should understand that they are make-believe. They were only passed down from the Middle Ages to give people hope and joy to their pathetic lives. Luckily," she adds,"we know better than they do, right?"
"Right."
"Good. Now, the 'Big Four' are Sandman, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and St. Nicolas North. They each were given a special task by the Man in the Moon based on their passion and personalities. Sandman's task was to protect the dreams of children-both consciously and subconsciously."
