Katherine couldn't remember who her parents were.

She had grown up under Ombric, a spirit who could control time. He was known throughout the human realm as "Father Time," though she knew the old geezer didn't like the name.

She had become a fighter in her own right under the teaching of Ombric. While she never knew her parents, she had a deep longing to know who they were and the legacy they left behind. Though, she supposed, the legacy they left behind would be determined through her. Ombric was one of the last great wizards of his time, having survived the fall of Atlantis. She wasn't sure if that part of his story was true, though.

Katherine loved telling stories through drawings. It was her greatest art. Ombric taught her how to use these drawings to make the words and images come to life. Through her, stories of the Guardians' adventures were kept alive throughout the world and in some of the human realm.

She had everything she wanted- talent, a home, and something to call her own. However, there was one thing she missed more than anything.

Her Nightlight.

Nightlight was the last of his kind from the Golden Era, an era of peace and light for all the realms. However, when Pitch came to take the life of the Man in the Moon, although he was also known more formally as Tsar Lunar XII.

When the current Tsar Lunar was born, his parents were fearful of the day the Nightmare King would try to take the throne for himself. Using children's laughter and starlight, they created Nightlight, a protector that had the power to defeat Pitch himself.

The first battle was successful. Her Nightlight came against Pitch to defend all Guardians and won. However, she knew he was changing.

Once they both shared a kiss between them, Nightlight began to change. He could already feel the power he had within himself fading, but he knew he wanted more than his existence had offered him.

He wanted a family.

And so, even after their shared kiss, Nightlight changed into something no other Nighlight had- a human. Splitting from his path of being a protector and sharing a kiss that started both of them on the path from childhood to adulthood, her Nightlight followed a new path and found himself a family of his own. She did not know who the family was, but she hoped he was happy.

She still missed him terribly so.

Katherine looked down at her goose, Kailash, her single lock of hair that never seemed to want to stay in place twirling into a fierce curl. It has a habit of turning curly in times of distress; courtesy of staying with Ombric for so long since his mustache tended to do the same thing.

Katherine sighs, trying to stop thinking about the past. It seems every time she does, her work is messed with. She huffs, letting Kailash eat the last bit of her leftovers.

"Katherine?" Ombric's voice shifts Katherine out of her gloomy state. She blinks, looking up at him with her grey hues. "Yes Ombric? Have you heard of any news regarding the awakening of the Nightmare King?"

Ombric nods. "Yes, but it also seems that there has been a spirit breaking into North's shop. He carries a wooden G-hooked staff that is similar to what your Nightlight carried."

Katherine's eyes widen; for a moment, she forgets all about the threat of the Nightmare King. "What's his name?" She says softly, putting down her paint brush. Both Ombric's mustache and Katherine's loose strand of hair curl violently. Distress is very clear in both of their faces.

"It seems, dear Katherine, your Nightlight has become a man named Jack Frost. He has been found in a place called Arendelle, as well as the Nightmare King."
