A/N:
Okay, so I have no excuse for not publishing...
But I've been so busy with The Selection series, as well as my fanfic account on Instagram...
But yeah, I'm updating now lol. So hopefully this chapter will make up for the long hiatus!
Just to be clear as well, this story will have SLOW updates. But I promise it won't be another six months. I'll try to make it once a month if possible. But anyway here ya go!

•Jack's POV•

"Jack," Elsa hisses as she eyes the forest line.

"What?" I say softly as I look over at her. She was eyeing the horizon, and I gasped as I saw the rising sun. Dawn.

"Mom, we gotta go. Grab what you can; we need to leave NOW." I stutter out as I struggled to breathe.

Em and Mom leave to hurriedly pack what little we have while Elsa remains with me. "Jack," she said softly, looking over at me.

"Elsa?" I reply back, biting my lip. She bends down, supporting me as she sets me down on the ground. "I'm sorry I couldn't do more for you," she says as she sits down with me.

Her lips graze my cheek as she cuddles my arm. "It's okay, El." I say softly, my face flushing from both the cold and the kiss. "It's okay. I'm alive."

"I know, but.." she bites her lip, looking away. "But for how long?"

I shake my head, speaking violently as she shudders from the tenacity in my voice. "Stop. You don't know that, Elsa. So don't think that."

"But Jack, it's not easy to watch someone you have grown to love and cherish just suddenly leave. It was my fault in the first place..." She sighs as she continues.

"All I wanted was a friend; I got something much more. I wanted freedom; I became bound in only more shackles. But I have to admit, those shackles have made me fight harder for what I love. You taught me that." She smiles as I blush.

"I'm not brave, Jack, I'm not smart. Yet too love me for the person that I am. You love my demons. And for that I...I..."

Emma comes out and interrupts us. "We gotta go now!" She rushes to us, a bag in hand.

My mother comes out too, urging us on. "Come on, Your Majesty. We must hurry before the guards come to get all of us." She nods, forgetting as if what she was saying had not been said at all.

"Yes, right." She nodded as she helped me up, supporting me on her shoulders. I could tell as we headed through the forest to the Arendelle docks that she was aching and sore. I tried to lighten up the load she was carrying, but she insisted that she could handle it.

"El, I know you're trying to prove you're strong, and I know you are. But don't push yourself past your limit sweetie." I said softly into her ear. She scoffed,"I can handle it. I'm not a weak princess."

I sigh and let her carry on until we reach the boat. My mom and my sister quickly are escorted by Morgan onto a small sailboat that is used for cargo for the bigger ships.

"Alright, into the boat, Overlands. We need to hurry before the Arendelle guards and Lady Gerda discover the princess and the prisoner are missing."

"His name is Jack, not 'prisoner.'" Elsa scowls. I press my arm against the small of her back, saying,"Easy, baby." She breathes in deeply, calming down. She looks over at me, sighing. "Just go." She looks away as she steps aside to let Morgan assist me to the boat.

"Wait, wait, please, Sir Morgan. Give me the chance to say goodbye. Please." I beg him, and he nods. "Five minutes. But please hurry Jack. You can't afford to be caught, and neither can she."

I nod as I grab her arm. "El, please. Don't do this."

      "Do what?"

"I can see right through you. Don't doubt that I can. I've known you long enough to know you either lash out or hold it all in when you're upset. Now, what is it?"

That's when she finally breaks down. Her lips quivers as she rushes to me, pushing herself into my arms. "Don't leave me, don't leave me," she sobs. I cradle her head, pulling her closer. "Elsa, I have to go." I whisper. "But you're the only friend I've...h-had." She sobs.

She clutches onto my shirt as I pull her away a bit to look her in the eye. "Elsa, I will never leave you. Never. We may be apart, but I'll always be with you in here." I point to her head. "Here." I point to her heart. "And here." I point to her neck. She looks at me, puzzled. "What?"

I chuckle a bit as I pull a golden locket out of my pocket. She opens it up slowly, tears forming in her eyes once more as she sees the picture inside. "Oh Jack..."

It was a picture of her family on one side. On the other was me, my mom, and Emma. "That way you'll never forget the family you had and the family that will always welcome you, no matter your flaws." I whisper as I tuck a piece of hair behind her ear. I put my mouth to her ear as I whisper,"And so you'll never forget the boy who fell in love with you. The boy who will always have your acclaimed 'frozen heart.' And I will always, always, keep your secret." I whisper as I pull away.

     "One minute."

Elsa pulls me to her again, hugging me as if her life depended on it. "Oh Jack." She whispers. "Um..." She says as she pulls away, her pale cheeks turning pink. "I have something for you, too." I raise my eyebrows. "What is it-" she kisses me before the words are even out of my mouth. She kisses me deeply and hungrily, not letting me go as I pull her closer. I miss her back just as hungrily, not caring that people were watching.

I pull away, gasping for air. "I love you so much. And I will always remember you." I say softly as I back away. My heart was tearing in two; I didn't want to leave.

But I had to, for her to be safe.

Little did I know that fate had us planned to meet again...but we both would be drastically changed.
