Opening the box, i see a large, old book tucked neatly inside. Carefully taking the book out, i place the box on the floor beside me and begin to open the book.
Inside the book, lots of names are engraved on the pages, with dates beside them. What does it mean? Going to the last page i don't believe what i see.
My name is written on the page with my date of birth at the side of it. Why is my name written here? And that must be my mum written above me, Piper Swinnings. My dad never told me her name, i wonder why?
All of a sudden a flimsy piece of paper falls out from between the book. Written on the top is my name. Slowly unfolding the paper i read the letter.
Sweet Melody,
If you are reading this then you must be 18. I told your father to give it to you on your 18th birthday.
I am so sorry for leaving you but i had no choice, if i would of stayed i would of been putting you in danger.
Thats what Jordan told me. He told me that my mum left so she wouldn't put me in danger. What danger are they talking about?
You must be wondering why you got this box. I am going to explain to you why. And it may be hard to take in but, you need to know as you will start to show signs soon.
Melody, you are a witch. I am a witch, your grandma is a witch. Every woman in our family line has been a witch. Your real father is a warlock. He is called Patrick Halls. I left him because he did some terrible things, things that would of gotten you and me killed in the long run.
This is going to be a bit hard to explain in a letter, but i will try my best.
Melody, be careful who you trust. You never know when someone is going to stab you in the back. I know this from experience. Well if you are anything like me then you probably have a hard time trusting people right now, struggling to let them in.
Being a witch is not all about spells and broomsticks. You can not do a spell for your benefit, as this will count as personal gain and will come with conciquences. If you go to the bottom of the garden, under the blossom tree you will find another box. Inside the box is a book of spells which you will need to learn, but do it discretly. Only practice the simple ones, which are at the beginning of the book. You must dig underneath the tree to find the box.
Remember Melody you must practice your magic, or else you will lose control. Being a witch is about protecting nature and the people in it. You will feel connected to the nature, maybe you found yourself wondering around the forest because you felt drawn to it. That is you magic. There are light witches and warlocks get their magic from nature essence and the sun. But beware, there are also dark witches and warlocks that take there powers from the shadows that lurk in the night and the fears of humans across the land. We are light witches.
