Mike
"Mama!" I yell running down the stairs, Alaya quick on my heals.
"Yes, baby?" I hear my mom answer from outside the back door as we come around the corner. We get outside and I plant a big kiss on her cheek.
"Just was looking for you to say bye. Me and Alaya have a movie to catch." I smile and grab Alaya's hand as she is kissing my moms cheek and waving as I drag her away.
"Well what is all the rush about, Mr. Impatient?" Alaya says with a smile in her voice. I open her door and escort her into the car, planting a firm kiss on her lips before closing her door. I run back to my mom as Alaya looks through the window in confusion and I hold up my finger to let her know I'll be only a minute.
"Hey ma. I didn't wanna say anything until I had her out of earshot. Is the package good?" I ask with an eager smile on my face.
My mom laughs and nods. "Yes it is, Mikey. And it's hidden in my room. She won't see it until you come get it." She winks and waves at Alaya again as she walks into the house, stomping soil off of the bottom of her gardening boots as she goes.
I race back to the car and hop in, a little more excited than I should be letting on.
"Ok...what are you so happy about?" Alaya looks at me with a perfectly manicured eyebrow raised in speculation.
"Oooohhh nothing. Just excited about this movie. You know I've been waiting to see this for a while."
"Yeah...ok." She laughs and snaps a picture of me. "Perfect..." She breathes. I look over and smile awkwardly.
"Why the picture?" I ask as I exit I-275. She shrugs.
"I like taking pictures of you. Candid moments. And the sun and clouds formed something like a glow behind your silhouette. Look." I stop at a red light and admire the image.
"Wow. you're pretty good at that. Ever thought of doing photography?" I ask. She nods but then shrugs.
"I wanted to go to school for it but I end up going for graphic design because they didn't have photography as an option. I learned photo editing though which is half the battle. Just need to learn the camera." She smiles that beautiful shy smile that I love so much. I reach for her hand, lace my fingers between hers, and kiss every knuckle. That speculative eyebrow raised yet again wondering what I have planned for her. But she doesn't say anything.
I can tell that she doesn't realize what today is, or she just hasn't put 2 and 2 together. But I'm kind of happy. It'll make the surprise even better. Now, to figure out how to say what I have to tell her...

Alaya
The movie was great! Comic book based movies have quickly turned into me and Mike's "thing" and it is the most awesome thing ever. Leaving the theater from seeing The Avengers, I skip along and then hop on Mike's back as walks ahead of me to open the theater door.
"Hey now!" He says startled as I pounce on him and bite his neck. He laughs and smacks my butt as he carries me down the steps. "Someone is happy about seeing that movie."
"Yes! I've been waiting for an Avengers movie since they made Iron Man and Thor. I knew it was gonna happen." I say excitedly.
"You and me both, mama. I have something else for you." He smiles as he places me down by the passenger door.
"Oh?" I ask. He smirks as he opens my door and winks at me. I wonder what he has gotten me.
On the way home, we stop by his mothers for him to grab something and then we head to my place. I look over and notice his smile has disappeared and he is radiating nervousness. The tension showing around his eyes. I grab his hand and kiss his palm.
