CHAPTER SIX : CONCERTS, HEARTBREAKS AND FIREWORKS. THIS COULD BE US; OR MAYBE NOT!

Today was quite hectic. Fridays are mostly like that. Had a huge test today; helped Derek get ready for his date after school with Reva; was given loads of assignments, so that was quite tiring.

Poppy and I kinda had a scene but it was just for a moment though.

"Oh Debbie!" I mutter to myself. "You need to teach that girl a lesson. She has no idea who she's messing with. Geez!"

Apart from the whole Poppy drama, today was fine. Matt still feels guilty as hell for what Poppy did and is trying to apologise; but it's so sweet making him beg. I've never had that before and it feels good.

It was a long walk from school but finally I arrive at my house. I enter, call out to my Mum, Dad and then my younger ones. No answer.

I guess it's just me for a while.

I drop my bag on the floor and sit on the couch; place my feet on the table; get the remote and just enjoy the few minutes of sweet alone time. It's been so long since I last had this.

I tune the TV to a comedy show but my mind drifts off. If Derek's date with Reva goes according to plan, then that would make my plans easier. I just need to be patient and precise.

Wow! I never knew I could be this devious. Oh no! I haven't asked my parent's permission to go to the concert tomorrow. I've been so occupied that I forgot. I wonder if Derek's already asked them. I doubt it though.

Just then, I hear the key in the lock and as soon as the door opens, my siblings run in screaming, followed by my Dad.

"Hey guys!" I smile and greet them.

"Hey pumpkin!" my Dad replies. "How was school?"

"Great, Dad. How was work?"

He smiles before saying, "Work was work, honey." He pauses and then asks, "Um, is your Mum home?" I look at him and I immediately notice the hint of frustration when he says the word 'mum'.

"Not yet Dad." I reply a bit worried.

"Good." He says under his breath, thinking I wouldn't hear as he sits on the couch and removes his tie.

I immediately drop the remote on the table and stand up, then heading to the kitchen to make some sandwiches. Knowing my Dad and younger ones would also be hungry, I decide to make for everyone before dinner is ready.

I open up the cabinet to get the ingredients needed to make 'PB and J' sandwich. Then I get the bread from the fridge and start making them. But then I get lost in my thoughts.
