CATALINA STORY!!

OUR CLASS CATALINA TRIP!

1st Day Sunday

My mom drove me to school that morning with my luggage in the trunk when we got to school i said my goodbyes and went to go get tags for my duffle bag, sleeping bag, and day pack as soon as we were all ready to go we got in our assigned cars i was going in Ginger's car with Amariah, Izzy, and of course Ginger. we watched Narnia and took many pictures of ourselves (being girls that were bored) as soon as we arrived at the best western hotel in long beach we jumped out of our cars excitedly, well some of us and waited to go to our rooms, as soon as we were all settled in we went swimming, keep away, Boys vs. Girls, there were less girls but we had a blast, about an hour later we decided to go to Chipotle, but seeing a Jamba Juice next to it some of us decided to get a smoothie too. when we got back to the hotel we had worship, made lunch for the next day, and went to bed.

2nd Day Monday

When I woke up I immediately realized I was going to fall off the bed so I rolled over and pushed destiny back to her side, and went back to sleep. At 6:00 the alarm clock went off and Ginger turned it off and we all went to sleep, about 5 minutes later it went off again and again Ginger turned it off, it went of at least twice more and then finally at 6:20 we woke up and got ready to leave at 6:30. the hotel provided us with breakfast so we went to the lobby to have breakfast. As soon as we were done we dumped our bags neatly in the cars.

At first we were all bored to death but as soon as we hit the freeway we rolled down our windows and started signing to the truck drivers to honk, we were lucky enough to get at least 5 honks. when we got to the boat dock we all looked around nervously for the other school we were going to have worship with, called Marimonte, and Linda Vista. When it was our turn to load onto the boat we grabbed our luggage and piled onto the top deck where the captain told us to hang out until we left the dock, as soon as we left the dock and the kids started going on the bottom level i started feeling sick, then i realized somehow i was the exact opposite of the horizon...what a lucky position to be in..... well an hour into our ride i started to get to know some of the Marimonte kids and we were going to play Mafia, but as soon as we started we ended it because the captain said over the loudspeaker there was a whale just to the right of the boat so we all looked and sure enough. As soon as the excitement about the whale died down we arrived at Catalina safe and alive!

We hiked up to our campsites we settled down and then went to our meeting site to meet the camp guide. we did a little reviewing and got ready to snorkel. We went over the snorkeling gear and then put it on, we looked so ridiculous it was hilarious, i'd have to say that everyone there needed at least one other person to help put on the gear and the least favorite thing was the happy strap it was horrid. we went into the water floated around and then started to look for some fish we saw at least 5 Garibaldi's they were so bright orange it was cool. later a few people claimed to have seen a shark or a ray. but anyways when we were don. We were good and soaked. we got out and took off the suits and went to go get ready for dinner, but later that night we went snorkeling again and it was so cool (in the dark of course) we saw like i forgot the name but when you moved your hands under water you saw a green glowing light it was so cool.

3rd Day Tuesday

I woke up at 6:00 am the next morning and Izzy and i went up to take a shower, to our surprise the showers were empty, meaning there were no other girls, it was kind of nice to have no one there. When we were done we quickly got dressed and went to go meet the others to have breakfast. the breakfast was a normal everyday breakfast, eggs, potatoes, orange juice, etc. When we were done we went tidepooling and picked up crabs, slug things, hermit crabs, we touched sea anemone. When we touched the Sea Anemone it would try to sting you but our skin is so thick that it felt sticky, it was so weird but so cool! later that day was after lunch, ya, after lunch we went kayaking our school got the green kayaks they were awesome! the wind was going crazy after i reached the corner of the cove and i started to get blown to like the center of the ocean, but i saved my muscles(I spelled it wrong on purpose)... no just kidding the wind died down and it was easier to kayak, as soon as we made it to the other cove our guide, Kent had us raft up and talked to us and passed around some seaweed that was supposedly edible, and showed us a wishing cave most of us went in and made a wish, my wish was to have twelve wishes, and then i used six of them. we went back to ours side of the cove and boy it was freezing. we went up to our camp and hung out and later that night you could hear coming from the cafeteria shrieks of terror and thrill.... well we were dissecting a squid! it was so cool! the shrieks of terror were from Ginger... and in order to get into the Bat ray club you had to high five a friend with a piece of squid, and then put that piece on your nose and then on your tongue it was kind of gross but we did it... well most of us... we all used the squid ink to draw on ourselves and then we went to bed..

4th Day Wednesday

I woke up got dressed and got back in my sleeping bag, I still smelled like squid....EWWW!! Lol, I hopped over to Amariah's tent and jumped on the cot thingys (there were two and Amariah and destiny had put them together) and went to sleep.. then Amariah and Destiny and Izzy and Gabby sort of piled on me, we took turns piling on each other and then we sorta lay there.... then Ginger told us it was time to go and meet the others. That morning we had pancakes for breakfast and i ate so much i felt sick but we did win the no food waste!!!!! Actually our whole side of the room won... after that we had a break and then we went to the plankton lab. They had the telescopes connected to computers and they looked so creepy crawling around. After that we went to the touch tanks and saw all kinds of animals, or creatures, we saw sharks, sting rays, octopus, starfish, etc. OOH ALMOST FORGOT! AND THE SLUG! It was so cool and squishy! Well then we had a camp inspection so that we wouldn't forget anything. Well we hiked back to where we got off, and waited with Linda Vista and met a few new people, then it was time to get on the boat i sorta felt sick watching the boat rock back and forth but i got over it. Well nothing exciting really happened so i'm just going to skip to when we got off, so we got off the boat and then we drove to the same hotel we stayed the previous sunday, and after we went to Souplantation payed by Mr. Carle. And of course when we got back to the hotel we went swimming, this time we had some company and some creepers, I was told there was a guy who was taking pictures of us.... when I heard that i was wondering, was he mistaken and think we were like famous or something? but luckily Ginger stared at him until he left. About an hour after that we went to bed all tired from playing keep away.

5th Day

The next morning we woke up packed and started the long trek back home. We stopped at least 5 times before we got back at 8:47pm and that is it...... THE END!!!!!
