LAUREN'S POV

"Shit." Normani cursed, putting her bat down to look over at one of the girls in the dugout. "Hey, Tori. What time is it?"

The blonde with the curly hair pulled her phone out of her bag and looked, "11:50. Why?"

"Yeah, Mans." I yelled at her from the pitchers mound, "Why have you been so worried about the time this whole practice?"

"Cause I gotta go. I promised Ally that I would meet her for lunch." Normani admitted. She had always talked about Ally but I never really cared. Now, that's all changed.

Hearing her name got me so
excited.

"Fine." I groaned, trying to pretend like I didn't really mind. "Everyone should just hit the showers. I have something I gotta do in a bit, too." Which was a lie. I just wanted to look at Ally while she was with Mani without being distracted by a softball.

Everyone in the dugout and outfields cheered as they hurried to bring themselves in to grab their bags and dip out, leaving Normani and I to clean up the field.

The hot sun started beating down and I was already worn out from this extra practice. I peeled off my practice jersey to expose my newly tan skin and from this past summer of beach visitations and a black sports bra over my goodies.

I used the jersey to wipe the sweat off of my forehead so I could feel a little less disgusting.

I picked up a few softballs and put them in the bucket by the dug out for practice tomorrow and hopped down into the dugout area to grab my bag.

"So," Normani smirked over at me, pulling her shirt off over her head to do the same thing as me. In all honesty, her body was definitely A-1 and always nice to look at. "Did you have fun with Ally last night?"

I licked over my bottom lip while pulling my bag's strap over my shoulder, "Yeah, I did. She's um, different."

"That's exactly what she said about you."

"Really?" I raised my brow to the darker girl, "What else did she say?"

"She said you hit on her." Normani pointed out, stuffing her practice tee into her bag and grabbing the bucket of softballs to put them in their correct spot.

"Well, I tried. She didn't seem into it, though." I admitted sadly.

"Yeah, she stubborn. She likes the whole relationship thing." Normani explained.

"She mentioned something about going on a date and then seeing where the night lead up." I pushed my sweaty hair out of my face and began walking beside her before stopping in the middle of the field, ready to part ways. "Do you think she'd go on a date with me?"

"You? A date? Since when have you took a girl out for a date?" Mani was absolutely flabbergasted. No one would expect me to be asking around about one certain girl. "Is Ally going to be the one to finally stop Lauren Jauregui's player streak?"

"Don't be so sure. I just want to get to know her a little bit." I laughed it off almost as if it was nothing. Almost as if I was trying to not admit anything even though there was really nothing to admit.

"Well, you can ask, but if you hurt my friend..." Her voice began to get harsh, "I will throw this softball so hard at the back of your head that you will wake up ten years later out of a coma."

I gave her my bitch face and shook my head in defiance, "I'm sure I'm not going to break her heart in one night."

"Don't be too sure." Normani challenged and her eyes left mine to look behind me, "There's your girl now. How about I go put this up and you tell her to meet me in the cafe after you ask her out. You're welcome."
