-Katrina-

(20 minutes before the arrival of Subject 7)

I tried to ignore it, or at least tried to sleep through it, but no matter what, I couldn't keep Nathan's screams out of my head. After Scarecrow had left me for the day as usual, with the questions he wanted answered, I thought that the day was over and nothing else could happen. Boy, was I wrong. Sometime during the evening, Nathan was brought up from the basement. I could tell it was Nathan because I remember hearing him yelling, kicking, and screaming. He was putting up a fight, but I didn't know why. "Maybe, since I'm missing from our little group, they have no one else to influence in escaping for them. So Nathan stepped up and was caught trying to escape." I thought. "Don't think like that! Those are Scarecrow's words, you don't believe him do you?!" My subconscious voice demands. "I don't know, he seemed pretty convincing." I sigh.

"May I remind you that he kidnapped you and has been terrorizing you!" My subconscious voice yells. "I know, but something's up with him. He's acting differently when Nathan and Ali are not around." I thought. "Well, I still don't trust him, he's hiding something." My subconscious sighs in defeat. "I know, I don't trust him much either, he's hiding something." I smile in victory. "Katrina?! Can you hear me? Where are you?!" Nathan shrieks. I quickly shake myself out of my thoughts and turn my attention to the door, the sound was radiating down the hall. I quickly stumble up and trip over my own chains as I attempt to reach the door. I fall with a thump and let out a cry for help. "Katrina!" Nathan yells. I hear the sound of fast moving footsteps shortly as they approached my door. "Nathan! P-please let m-me out!" I shriek. I hear the person behind the other side of the door frantically begin to try to open it with the familiar sound of keys.

I hear the door's locking mechanism click and the door flies open to reveal a familiar face. Nathan. "Katrina!" Nathan smiles widely. "N-nathan! P-please help me, I-I'm trapped!" I beg with a smile. Nathan nods and starts to approach me, but before he can reach me to set me free, someone tackles Nathan to the ground. It was Gabriel. I let out a shriek of horror as I watch Gabriel start to pound on my helpless friend a few feet away from me. "S-stop it! P-please!" I cry out while straining myself out to help Nathan. I am somehow able to grab Gabriel's jacket and begin to tug to get his attention. Gabriel quickly takes notice, and becomes very angry towards me. "Stay back bitch!" Gabriel yells as he slaps me away. The slap connects to my face and the force of it knocks me away from the two battling.

I bring one of my hands towards my face as I held it in a painful manner. The slap really didn't surprise me, if anything, I expected it to come from Gabriel. I was actually starting to get used to this type of treatment. As I began to silently cry towards my pain, I don't happen to notice someone else enter the room in a rushing manner. Whoever they were, they immediately crouched down to my level and start to brush my mangled hair away from my red face with a concerned manner. "Hey, you okay?" A familiar male voice asks. My wet blue eyes open and look up to see Scarecrow giving me a very concerned look. Due to my silent response, Scarecrow begins to explain himself, "Nathan, got loose during the start of my experiments. He ended up getting a hold of one of Gabriel's knifes and threatened to kill us all. Even you and Ali."

In shock and disbelief, I start stuttering as I stared in awe at now Nathan's unconscious form, "N-no, t-that can't be t-true, he's m-my friend, h-he w-wouldn't have d-done that." "Gabriel, show her." Scarecrow sighs. Gabriel nods to Scarecrow's command, and pulls out a pocket knife from Nathan's back pocket. I let out a yelp of shock and I scoot myself closer to Scarecrow in fear as I start to cry more. I noticed Scarecrow's form finch in surprise, but it leaves as quickly as it came and he relaxes. If only I had noticed a sinister smile form on his face as he reached out towards me.

I feel his hand rest on my shoulder in a reassuring matter while giving me a sadden look. "I'm sorry that I had to show you the truth. I told you didn't I? They're just using you just to save their own skins. Just like everyone else." Scarecrow apologizes. I continue to silently cry, and I accidently whisper aloud, "W-who am I-I to t-trust now?" Scarecrow hears my whisper and pats my shoulder. "That is up for you to decide." Scarecrow replies. I hesitantly nod in agreement to his statement as he return to his feet. "Gabriel, please take subject five down to my lab and strap him down in the testing chair for me, I wish to move forward from this incident and continue on with my work." Scarecrow commands. "Yes sir." Gabriel replies before picking up and carrying out Nathan's unconscious body.
