Chapter 5: General Redfox

I came to another stop and put my hands to my knees gasping for air.

"He can't be far, I've seen him twice in a row. He must live near by!"

More motivated I continued running down the docks of Hargeon. By now the sun had set and the street lamps were the only source of light I had left. I then came to a sudden stop and pulled the piece of paper out of my pocket.

"This man that I've encountered twice already, doesn't seem anything like the savage Josephine and Papa told me about. Even after reading his Journal, he just seems like he was escaping some kind of imprisonment."

I sat on the side of the road. Still observering the small paper.

"His handwriting was quite nice for someone with a reputation like his" I felt a small smile form across my face.

I then heard footsteps approaching and quickly jolted up.

"Jeez you scared me." The woman in from the bar smiled.

"Haha I'm sorry." I smiled "I thought you were one of those Sailors."

"I see, I would've done the same. So... uh, sorry to ask but what are you doing?"

"Well, you see. Do you remember the man I was with earlier? I just need to return something to him." I said looking down to my hand which still held the parchment.

"Yeah! Him. No one knows much about him. He's been just wandering and working the ports for a long time now. I've never seen him with anyone before, that is untill today." She giggled.

"Uh-" I couldn't hide it, my face turned red. "Well do you know where I could find him?"

"Oh! I see, unfinished business" she winked.

"No! No, I really need to return something!"

"Haha calm down, he lives in one of boats docked over there." She said pointing to docks.

"Thank you!" I quickly began running after, while waving back to her.

"Finally a lead. He has to be somewhere over here!"

When I arrived to the docks a came to a halt, I scanned the harbor looking at the numbers of boats. This was going to be another difficult obstacle, he could have been inside any one of those ships. I could only remember walking for hours and looking at boats that might have had him in them. When suddenly in the corner of my eye, I see a boat pulling out of its harboring area. The sails were going up and it was headed towards the harbor gate. I ran to the edge of the dock to get a better view of the captain. I knew it was him. I just knew.

"Hey! Stop! Please!" I screamed

I began running along the port side staying in view of the boat, soon enough I would be out of dock to run on. The boat was almost reaching the gate when it happened.

"Gajeel!!!"

I screamed as I leaped out into the water towards the boat. Before I entered the water I saw his head turn.
It was cold. I was surrounded entirely by water, and yet I felt so alone and defeated. Ironically, I always feel this way. But then, my hand. It was warm? The direction in which my hand went, was where my body followed. I wanted that feeling to never leave, because it was something I've never felt before-

"Hey! Shrimp! Wake up!!"

"wah..." I slowly opened my eyes meeting his. My vision finally cleared up, and I smiled. "Youre not too easy to find Mr.Redfox"

"So you did say my name." He said looking up in disappointment.

I didn't even realize that I was completely soaked in water. He had wrapped me in layers of blankets and had lit candles all around me. We were sitting in side of the ship, it was a small but cozy room that had maps covering the walls.

"That was a ballsy move you pulled back there. You're lucky I jumped in and took you out. The harbors infested with giant sea leaches that come out at night." He stated

"What?!" So my dramatic performance just looked stupid

"I harbored the boat next to the dock you can get off now." He got up and left the room.

I followed after him. "Gajeel, wai-"

"Stop calling me that!!" He yelled

"I- im sorry." Startled and scared I looked at the floor. "I'll leave, as long as you walk me back to my Inn."

"Ugh, fine." He looked beyond irritated.

Not too long after we arrived Inn.

"Wait here I need to get something upstairs that I need to return to you." I said

He didn't say a word and I ran up. The note was in my pocket and was soaking wet.

"Okay," I came back to him "here. You left this in the bar."

He reached his hand out to grab it, and that's when I slapped on the lacrima bracelet.

"What?!" His eyes were furious. "Why you...!" He said reaching for me bbbbzzzz.

"This lacrima is connected to me, it obeys me and only me. You do anything I don't allow and it'll shock you. Gajeel Redfox, I'm taking you into the Magic Council."

He was on the floor panting, still trying to recover from the shock.

"Damn." He looked up at me. "You're like every other one of them."
