I thought running out of English class away from Lucas put me in the safe zone for at least a few minutes, but no, it didn't.
I was on my way to the last period of the day, Math with Emma. As I walked to along the somewhat empty corridor, a hand grabbed my wrist pulling me backwards into a stone chest, and another covered my mouth to muffle my screams that I began voicing in panic.
I was pulled into a closet, the janitors it seemed, in complete and utter darkness and was let go of, with barely a chance to even defend myself. Panting like a dog, I heard an amused laugh that belonged to none other than Cole Walker.
I scoffed in the darkness as I saw Cole's shadow in front of me reach up above our heads to pull a string to illuminate the room in a dull yellow light. I could finally see his vibrant blue eyes and that defying smirk.
My heart rate increased as he stared at me with a smile. This was the first proper time he had seen me after my, well, episode.
"Did you have to scare me like that?" I asked, annoyed. I seemed to be annoyed at these boys lately.
He let out a short laugh and replied. "Well you know how to defend yourself, right?"
I small smile crept onto my face, it was evident he was thinking about this morning.
"So an assassin. Really?" He questioned with an eyebrow raised.
" Yep, I'm the one your Dad hired." I replied confidently. My gaze left his intense eyes and wandered around this small room. There was barely distance between us or room to move, and I didn't know how long I could stay here for without cracking or walking back into the mop bucket behind me.
"Well the thing is, my Dad is in New York City right now, which leaves me the lovely job of assessing the 'new girl'. " His voice was low and his eyes were dark but held glints of mischievousness in them.
"Is that so?" I asked, crossing my arms and meeting his gaze again.
"It sure is." He stepped closer to me as I inhaled.
I stepped back into the mop that I tried to hard to be aware of, snapping the both of us back into reality.
My phone vibrated in my pocket. Then again. It could only be Emma stressing about where I was.
"I have class to get to." I said gazing at the door and began to wonder if those texts were in fact Emma freaking out.
I shuffled my way over to the door just as Cole spoke. "Dinner tonight? La Rachellè, 6pm?"
I turned back surprised. He was still going to ask me out through all of this?
"Like a date?" I questioned, my hand beginning to turn the knob of the Janitors door.
"Always like a date." He smirked, his blue eyes gleaming.
"Sure." I smirked.
I twisted the door knob and exited the room leaving Cole on his own.
Racing to Math class, I was anticipating the backlash I was about to get from Mr Warley from being late and Emma for not replying.
.........
I glanced at the large analogue clock for the 5th time in 30 seconds. 5:46pm.
I was ready from head to toe in a black dress fell to the floor with a slit down the side that maintained both elegance and comfortability. Emma had helped me pick it out seeing as she knew the status of the restaurant and the appropriate attire to wear to La Rachellè.
