You are never alone in this world. There is always someone out there in this big world, waiting for you.

I entered the school building feeling different. Ever since the crazy dreams I had last night, everything started to feel off. Almost as if I was being watched.

And I hated this feeling.

Everything that happened last night in my dream felt so real, as if it was actually happening. I tried to figure out what Percy meant when he said I was the last one. Why does it have to be me! I'm just an ordinary girl trying to survive this school full of bullies and teachers out to get you with their man-eating homework assignments! But noooooo, instead I get crazy hallucinations that might as well put me into a mental institution!

As I was walking to class, I got a terrible feeling that something just wasn't right. Why did Jack freak out after I told about what happened? Is there more behind all this craziness, or am I overthinking things? Yeah, I probably am overthinking it all. I just need to relax. Yeah, just take some deep breaths. In through the nose, out through the mouth. In through the nose, out through the...

"Hey Brooke, what's up? Are you feeling okay, your face is turning red?"

Nope, I just lost it.

"HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO CALM DOWN WHEN I HAVE THIS HORRIBLE FEELING IN MY STOMACH THAT WON'T GO AWAY!" I burst out at Rose.

She looks at me in fear and cowers back.

"If this is a bad time then I can just go..." she left the sentence hanging and she jutted her thumb out pointing behind her.

"No, no. Don't go. It's just... I have this horrible feeling in my stomach and I feel as if something bad is going to happen." I give out an exhausted sigh.

"I would tell you not to worry about it, but you never know what can happen. Its like a sixth sense. All I can say is that everything will turn out okay in the end."

I sigh though the horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach is still there and it doesn't seem like it'll go away any time soon. "Thanks Rose, for you beautiful words but class is about to start in two minutes and I don't want to be late again. I'll see you during lunch." A hint of sarcasm was present in my voice.

"No problem!"

As she walks away, I start to wonder if she has grown immune to my super sarcasm powers.

I start to walk to class and just as I enter the room, the warning bell rings, signaling for us to get to class.

As people filed into the room, slowly but surely, the loud speaker started to crackle as the familiar voice of our principle spoke through.

"Brooke Perrywinkle, to the main office, Brooke Perrywinkle, to the main office."

My homeroom teacher shot me look, allowing me to leave the class just as the few students who were already in the classroom started 'oohing' at what i could have possibly done wrong.

I make my grand exit, being as dramatic as possible...

"We have been trough so many tough times together, through so many scientific methods that we might never use in our lives. But I know the you will always have my back!" I fake an oncoming sob and put the back of my hand against my forehead. "Just please don't forget—"

"JUST LEAVE ALREADY, WOULD YA!"

"BOO!"

I cross my arms and pout, stomping my foot against the ground as a child would when they don't get what they want. Just as I was about to defend myself, a familiar voice stepped in to my rescue.

"Hey guys, don't be so cruel! At least she has a heart, though I can't say the same thing about most of you."

I turn around with a big smile on my face whilst most of our audience were scowling at us.

"Aaw, my hero!" I shout dramatically and leap into his arms, nearly knocking him down.

"Whoah, calm down there! So I heard you got called to the office."

"Yeah... I should probably get going there." Then mumbling under my breath, "party pooper."

"HEY! I heard that!"

I take one look at him and decide that I really should get going.

"Uh, no you didn't, gotta go! Love ya!"

I turn on my heal, nearly falling and start to make a run down the hall, just as a teacher walks out and starts shouting at me not to run in the halls.

Eventually, I finally make it to the principle's office and enter, not even bothering to knock on the door.

"Hey there, Principal P! How's it going?" I see Principal Franklin standing by the mirror, watching the students eating lunch outside. Taking this opportunity to my advantage, I casually was around the room and inconspicuously make my way around the principal's desk and sit in his skinny chair.

"Sooo," I draw out whilst spinning. "What did you call me up for? I haven't been pranking anyone since yesterday."

Principal Franklin sighs and turns around, finally seeing my fabulously spinning around in his chair. He walks to the corner of the room and reveals another spinning chair from the shadows. He drags that chair over to his desk and puts it next to the one I'm currently spinning in. Letting go of the previous chair he was dragging, he grabs the back of the chair I'm in and drags both me and the chair around his desk. He walks back around the desk and collapses in the chair, leaning one elbow on the desk and using his other arm to rub his aching forehead.

I take one look at him and suddenly realize how serious the situation must be if he appears this distressed. He looks up at me with pity in his eyes and says to me the words that will change my life.

"Brooke, your parents are missing."
